If you mute all, more than likely you'll get reported.

More than likely, the other 4 players on your team are trying to coordinate with you, and when you don't respond by both not doing what they asked while not providing strategic alternatives they will just assume you're trolling.

They can report until they turn blue in the face, but unless you're using gameplay negativity like actually inting or actually trolling all of those reports are thrown out as false and no punishment occurs.

Getting reported != getting punished.

Get reported, sure. Anyone can report anyone for any reason. However, refusing to communicate is NOT one of the report option nor is it a punishable offense by itself. Let them report, nothing will happen if you play to win and not actually trolling or afking.

If mute all was a punishable offense, it wouldn't be an available option.

The second i see flame, salt, or any sort of negativity in my chat i /muteall. That negativity will just lead me to play worse, which will invariably lower my chances of winning even if its not directed at me. Additionally, one of the most common pieces of advice given to people by high elo players on how to climb is focus on playing not typing. 90% of the info you need to convey can be done with pings.

They can report all they want and those reports can stack up for the next 4 years and NOTHING will happen. Wanna know why? Cause it's not bannable for not using the chat. So whatever you're trying to say isn't logical. Pings, emotes, and masteries would be reportable likely punishable too by what you're saying.

This is misleading. Sure, some folks may report you, but they have no basis to get you punished. It won't matter.

Many experienced and successful players recommend /muteall in every match. They've never been banned for it.

They may assume you are trolling. They may even report. It doesn't do anything if they do, as long as you're doing your best and playing to win. I have been muting everyone, every game, for almost a year now. How many times have I been reported for it? No idea. Because I've never been punished for it. Plus, not dealing with the barrage of negativity from people who can only have "fun" by flaming and trash talking makes this game much more enjoyable. Personally, I strongly support the "mute everyone" approach to play. In my experience playing league, the number of games where chat is used for something good compared to when it is used for arguing/flaming is around 1:100

You're not wrong. Some players just don't use the chat feature, but that has it's pros and cons. a pro being that he/she doesn't relentlessly flame the teammate for going 2/7. A con being that he/she doesn't share crucial information that could save you a teamfight.

You can't be punished for crimes you don't commit. You may get reported, but you can't be punished because you mute players.

Ok.

/muteall

YokoNomi1/1/2018, 4:55:10 PM1 votes

That's entirely subjective. It's possible someone will all mute just to prevent a potential situation, or they've experienced enough of their own to not want to deal with people beyond the interactions the game demands we have at a minimum. Plus, who's to say the player has pings muted as well? That's practically half of our method of communication, so maybe they can see that at least.

While I'm not for it, it's kind of hard to argue against it, if the player still does his/her job well.
