Does reporting player even mean anything anymore??

So I'm a pretty average player . . . I don't claim to be the best and I probably never will be but I'm willing to learn from my mistakes to improve myself as a player. So I recently played my first two ranked games and I have to say they were the two single most worst experiences Ive had on league of legends. The abuse and torment dished out to players from both sides was absolutely disgraceful and it made me personally want to shut down my account and never go anywhere near LOL until the day I die. Does Riot even police people who seem to derive great pleasure from ruining other peoples experiences with their game???. I feel like that this is an issue that has to be dealt with sooner rather than later, because I mean it seems like the LOL community is even more hateful than the COD community at times. Personally I feel like allowing this sort of abuse to carry on would be atrocious especially from the point of view of brand new players who want to try out the game, get a massive tonne of abuse and then spread the word to their buddies that LOL is something to be avoided entirely for fear of some of the most disgusting comments ive ever heard IN MY LIFE!. Something needs to be done about this. theirs my piece.

A concerned player.

Riot, from what I've seen when I report does look into what happened and does punish people. I've had many people banned because of what they did in games I was in. That being said, sometimes it's best to completely ignore people and after a while they will just drop it when they see it doesn't bother you. It's normally when you say something back, regardless if it's rude or just defending yourself, that it adds more fuel to their flame.

Sorry you had to endure that.

as My Sea Cow said (there's a joke in there somewhere...), at best just ignore the player base and play the game your way. If needed, even mute or cut off communication with them apart fron pings.

Ironically enough, you say that LOL Community is more toxic than CoD, but the major difference between CoD and LoL is how Call of Duty doesn't have a way to data-mine their results or entries of problems, whereas League of Legends easily does due to their way of dealing with the problem a la Tribunal and Support tickets. In reality, if the people being Call of Duty were to set up a system that had a report functionality with a logging system to boot, we would definitely be seeing farm more reports of toxicity on those platforms, only because its easier to speak than to type something on the fly or in a tense situation.

Otherwise, I hear you on the toxicity. Have to deal with it constantly being in Plat, especially with how dividing games can get. Just ignore and move on.

You can't compare CoD to LoL, they both have the exact same amount of toxicity like every other video game with multiplayer. The difference maker is the fact that in League you just get stuck with them for 20-30minutes instead of less than 10.

To answer your question, yes they get punished. Ive been punished by it and Ive seen plenty of others get punished for it.
