These prevalent behaviors should be just as bannable as the others.

  • Intentionally Feeding
  • Inappropriate/Aggressive/Violent/Negative Attitude

These are the most common and talked about toxic behaviors. But I really think the following go unnoticed and are just as toxic, and MORE prevalent than the ones mentioned above. They are:

  • Ganging up on a player in chat
  • Announcing intention to report a player

The most common example for the first toxic behavior is usually: Singling out a player for being toxic, and/or getting other players to single him out as well. Essentially, "fanning the flames". I see this FAR more often than actual "ragers". This type of toxic behavior often gets overlooked as the individual is usually on the "good side", ie arguing against an angry/frustrated player. This behavior needs to STOP because it does not accomplish anything other than escalate the situation. If a player is frustrated, angry etc, instead of trying to get everyone to gang up on this guy and exploit his emotions, simply mute the player, ignore them, and wait until the end of the game to report them if you feel they did something to warrant it. I cannot express how frustrating it is to watch one toxic player expose himself, only to watch 3 other players poke fun at him, bully him, announce their intention to get him banned, etc. Which leads me to my next point.

Nothing good comes from typing "reported", "report (player name)", or anything of the sort. All that does is create a lynch scenario where either the player accused is bullied, or the player announcing the report. Similar to the previous toxic behavior, all this does is escalate the situation. If you intend to report someone for being toxic, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. Nobody needs to know, nor does anyone care; least of all the player who is prompting you to report him. Chances are 99% that he knows what he's doing and either can't or won't stop.

Just because someone is acting in the wrong, does not give you the right to bully them, single them out, escalate a situation, etc, just because you are the "good guy". I see this time and time again. If somebody is raging, let him rage, play the game, chat with the others who aren't raging. Final example:

Lee Sin: @#$%^ enemy jungler stole my red Lee Sin: MID??? HELP??? Ahri: ? Lee Sin: @#$%^ idiot Caitlyn: Lee, it isn't her fault. She's playing better than you. Lee Sin: LOL ok bronzie Caitlyn [All]: Guys wanna report Lee Sin? Super toxic. Enemy Team [All]: uh sure lol why not Ahri [All]: LOL this lee on full tilt

Nothing was accomplished in the above chat. Lee was clearly being toxic, when Caitlyn rushed in to defend Ahri, but in the wrong way; by attacking Lee. Furthermore, she announces in all chat her intention to report Lee, while asking others to do the same. The enemy team obliges, despite not being involved whatsoever. Ahri steps in to berate Lee as well. All Caitlyn accomplished was further angering Lee by ganging up on him and singling him out. Ahri decides to join in as well. While this may be "fun" for them, it isn't for Lee Sin, and certainly not for me having to observe all this from the sidelines. Here's how it should have played out:

Lee Sin: @#$%^ enemy jungler stole my red Lee Sin: MID??? HELP??? Ahri: ? Lee Sin: @#$%^ idiot Caitlyn: Lee, it isn't her fault. Relax, you're doing fine.

This is an example of true honorable behavior. Instead of bullying Lee for being emotional, Caitlyn absolves Ahri of blame while reassuring Lee that the situation is okay. Every time I see something like this happen, the angry toxic player usually calms down. The odd time he/she doesn't, simply saying nothing and/or muting will cause them to quiet down.

I really hope this convinces even just one or two players to reconsider the next time they are in a similar situation. Thank you ~

UGH!, I don't want to be banned for inappropriate behavior. Sometimes I want to have fun, and if me role-playing as Chris Hansen gets me banned I'm flying to Cali and jumping off the Riot building.

I don't think I can do this. I'm going to have to single you out as the OP on this one.

I'll have a 'chute of course (I won't die over a video game) but I just want to show Riot my "Eclipse" Leon concept.

Negative attitude is something you can't change. But it's bannable if you repeatively have it
