Why Should People Get Banned For This

Today (Aug 6) I was playing a game. Unluckily I there was a very toxic player on my team play support. He was raging out of his brains because the other team's jungler kept ganking them. After a while, he said he'll afk but after kha'zix (their jger) didn't stop ganking and we told him not to he decided to come to my lane (mid) and started inting into my laner. My team /all chatted and said to report him. This support particularly had a problem with our jungler (master yi) since yi was giving him backlash for inting instead of going afk. Then vel decided to say some very not nice things to yi that was more than reportable. I quoted these things to the other while actually using quote symbols and explaining that's what he said. After the game, I received a 14-day suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct. apparently quoting someone else's toxicity is in fact, toxic and reportable for some reason. Please fix this riot. I know this isn't a huge problem but people shouldn't be able to get banned for this. Chat log: Game 1 Pre-Game Dope Yasuo: tanky jg or top? Please fix this riot. I know this isn't a huge problem but people shouldn't be able to get banned for this.

I personally have to disagree. The enemy team had a game free of hate speech until you decided to share that player's behavior with them, forcing them to see really offensive language. 1 report has just as much power as 9, and all this does is increase the visibility of offensive language AND create a worse environment by focusing people's attention on the action of one player.

I'd be okay with it getting a slightly lesser penalty if the quote is confirmed to be accurate, but there really isn't any reason to repeat hate speech.

The system is automated. This is common knowledge now. Knowing this, you chose to repeat foul, possibly zero-tolerance, language in calling for another player's report. Obviously, you got reported because your chat logs were flagged for having said foul, possibly zero-tolerance language. Do. Not. Do. This. Ever. People should know this by now, that repeating things that are reportable, when trying to get a troll/flamer reported for saying those things, invites vengeance and retribution on you from the person you're reporting. You can simply say "Vel called Yi the n-word, the f-word, and then he flamed Yi all game. Please report him." and leave it at that. In that way, you don't say things that are instantly going to get you banned by a vengeance report. Use some common sense here. If someone's language is reportable, don't repeat it.

you quoted hate speech and as a bonus asking for reports is considered harassment.

Write a support ticket, if you are lucky and get one of the supports with brain, they might reverse the ban.

Also, if you dont want to get banned, simply do not use the chat. Rito bans for literally anything.

Do you have any understanding what MILLIONS of players playing tens of millions of games looks like? Do you have any understanding of the scale of that?

They shouldn't, the people who say this should be punishable if you look up their opgg they're all not active ranked players, and at best they're all below platinum, players who hang in the player behavior boards section are just not competitive players and they don't know that ranked is a totally different environment then normals\arams

So having reviewed what everyone has commented on this i can see why Riot wouldnt want players doing what i did even if it wasnt done with malicious intent, but i still feel like the punishment was way over-doing it. i should have either gotten a warning, low priority queue or a 1 day suspension. Also legitimate question even though this is going to sound passive aggressive. If asking to report a player is harassment why am i now hearing about it being reportable. I've never heard of a player getting suspended over it
