The title says all. I always thought the punishment thing goes

and it goes back a tier every 3 months. Is this correct? If so, why was all of that skipped? i havent been banned in like 2 years...[zombie-brand-mindblown]
Depending on the severity of the toxicity, punishment tiers may be skipped entirely. Feel free to submit a ticket to Riot Support to appeal your ban.
It isn't an issue of time rather games played. You have to be neutral to positive to get the tier to drop.
Sufficiently negative chatlogs can skip punishment tiers. Most commonly are various derogatory slurs and encouraging self-harm.
The 3month thing isn't set in stone. It can be more or less depending on how often you play and how salty you are. There have been posts on here claiming that the previous punishment had been 8 months prior or more
