League of Legends is not a sport

It is a video game. And one day it will be gone. Try not to take it so seriously that you start harassing others for being bad.

League of legends is a competitive game that people care about. You have to appreciate that.

To address the title, I guess it would really depend on what you consider to be a "sport".

Technically, a sport by definition is;

"An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment."

So you're right, it can't be considered a sport. But there is another definition that can be used, e-sport.

"A multiplayer video game played competitively for spectators, typically by professional gamers."

So league is certainly an e-sport.

People can play soccer casually or seriously, it's their choice. I see no reason that someone couldn't play league either casually or seriously. That doesn't mean a person is allowed to harass someone for playing poorly, but at no point should a person be compelled to play the game with only a casual outlook.

League of Legends is an esport. 2018 worlds got more viewership than the 2018 super bowl. Esports will continue to grow and will dwarf every other sport in the future.

I said all of that only to entertain your incorrect argument. Staying power or how old something is, doesn't make it a sport. A rock is a sport by your definition. The only argument you would have is if your definition of sport involves physical exertion. Then you have to classify something like Chess as something else other than a sport.

I'm sorry, but this is a game I spend my time on, and which i expect to be entertained -- as a video game should be. So when others are ruining my experience by feeding/inting/trolling/afking etc. I'm not going to take that lightly for wasting my time

Ever heard of esports?

Eh, I get the message you're trying to get across, but how about a difference in phrasing?

A video game, or any activity, can be both fun and competitive at the same time. There's no excuse for harassing others for any reason, whether they're in it just for fun, for excitement, a little bit of both, or any reason at all.

Only thing I want to point out. It's not soccer, it's football and what you called football is... honestly, I don't know wtf it is, but clearly not football.

League is the WoW of MOBA's in terms of it's popularity and success. Just like how WoWs been around for as long as it has, league will also. I agree people shouldn't harass others over just a game, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a competitive scene like eSports to go with it. Believe it or not I believe eSports and other competitive league scenes help promote the game and push it away from dying off or at least declining!

It's lasted eight years now and still has a growing audience. Whether or not League stays will most likely rely on the next generation. I'm confident it'll stay long past my life.

League of Legends is officially classified as a sport and multiple big name athletes agree with this classification.
