Does Riot take racism seriously?

League of Legends Match History

1/7/18 : During the match lobby this player decided to not only tell my friend and I to kill ourselves in a bathtub, he also proceeded to spam (copy and paste) the N word. And then when we said to stop or we would report he then told us he was related to a staff member and that doing so would not result in a ban. We muted him in-game and then reported him after the match ended.

I've gone through many staff members who have all told me to keep reporting any other players that do the same. Which at first I said okay and moved on playing the game, but I do check his account through the website and for some odd reason he is still playing games and is in full control of his account.

1/12/18 : I was in a live chat with the staff member, "Mr. Feeny", who told me this. "So the proper escalation of punishment is as follows 10-game chat restriction > 25-game chat restriction > 2-week suspension > Permanent suspension" "You can skip to a 2-week suspension for using racial slurs, hate speech, or wishing harm upon others." "Otherwise, you will generally have chat restrictions until reaching that point"

Which to me didn't really add up since my claim against this player was for the main reason of being extremely racist and blatant about it.

I would like some real answers and would like to not be told that they will "look into it". Because considering the player did claim to be related to a staff member and that he would not be banned for racial slurs and to this day has not had any type of punishment seems VERY fishy.

Riot does not release information about other players' accounts and punishments. If you would peruse these boards, you'd see the system does punish racism with an instant 14 day suspension. That being said, if it was more minor than you remember, or if it was not as blatant as you remember, it would not have been escalated.

Confirmation bias is a thing - and I fear you may be suffering from it here. You may be remembering it more extreme than it was, just because you need some confirmation they were punished for it.

Anyone who is actually related to a staff member and invokes that staff member as some sort of protection from the rules can actually get themselves and that staff member into even more trouble.

Riot does take racism seriously, and you definitely should continue to report such behavior. Racism in the way that that user used it will definitely result in at least a 14-day ban, possibly even an immediate permanent ban since they flaunted the system and admitted to knowing that what they did was wrong.

Is it so hard to get actual staff feedback on this issue? If I was actually suicidal the player's words in that game could've pushed someone over and that is not something that should be supported by ANY means by riot. Ignorance is direct support of suicide threats.

You don't get banned for one game. If he spams it in a couple more, then he'd get punished. 2 weeks.

The Riot automated AND ticket system is really strange. Someone I knew said the "n-word" once in team chat, where we were all a 5-man premade, but he still got banned. He showed me the responses, and it said something like "riot takes racism/homophobia extremely seriously and will not tolerate it in any circumstance." Also, it seems like "kys" is a ban trigger word, but I've actually used in sometimes and never have gotten banned. item 3175 Draven summoner 1 [zombie-brand-mindblown]
