Can someone explain where I went wrong?

So I was chat restricted when I had someone in my game start being toxic after an enemy team invade. I told him to stfu, and when he started talking trash I threw it back at him then decided it was better to mute him than to continue dealing with his toxic attitude throughout the game.

Entire chatlog of the game from me. I understand I told him 'stfu' but dude literally said, "hey we should AFK, they've already inted and they're trolling hard" and did nothing but constantly be toxic. But because I told them off I somehow got chat restricted for it.

Sure. You went wrong when you used the entirety of the game chat for the sole purpose of harassing a teammate. You do not get the right to violate the rules against harassment just because you think they are trolling, or they threaten to AFK. You are free to use the report feature to report them for their behavior. You are not free to harass them.

you was toxic towards him. Him being toxic doesnt give you excuse to being toxic as well :) next time just mute and report after the game.

You went wrong on the first line. And you probably wouldnt get punished for just saying stfu. Like if thats all you wrote in a game, you will be fine. But it opens the flood gates and invites retaliatory responses. You reacted to those responses with more negativity. So even though the stfu is where the "went wrong" begins, it was the continued negativity that really dug your grave.

Anyways, hope you reported them too so at least youre not the only one to get punished for it. Maybe theres some solace in that. Riot will punish anyone for breaking rules, not just who started it or who joined in after. Its a pretty non biased, fair system in that way.
