Request for client chat to not disappear when someone unfriends you.

Basically this happened "He harassed us all game by telling the other team to report us and kept ping spamming. However i just muted and didnt really care. but then he sent a friend request and i accepted. He told me to kill myself then unfriended so things got deleted before i could screen shot in span of like 5 seconds." copy pasted from my ticket. i just want to ask , Will it be possible for the chat not to disappear if someone just unfriends you, maybe for like 2 days, then it deletes itself. i believe it might make things easier to report. thanks

Riot doesn't punish based on private chats. You opted in, for reasons that I don't understand. Don't add assholes.

theres no reason for riot to punish for private correspondence even if its in their client. If you agreed to allow him to message you, you agreed to get any message he chooses to send. Nothing was forced on you like in game chat.

Very likely friend chat disappears when unfriended so no one can screenshot embarrassing things from past friends for whatever reason. Since that system is valid, and theres no valid reason to need to keep chat from people who are unfriended, I doubt they will change it.

I'm honestly surprised by the enthusiasm people here have for DMs being an "everything goes" wasteland. Yes, you can unfriend someone at any time if they start spewing racist bile or whatever. You can also mute someone in-game at any time, and that's never been an accepted argument for making chat unpunishable.

it alrdy got posted, but i'll like to say it again: riot doesnt punish for in client behavior. pre and postgame lobby are "special" cases.

Yeah Riot doesn't care about private chat. On one of my smurfs I had a guy from the enemy team who seemed friendly, added me after and literally just said "I'm going to f***king murder your family for ruining my game"

Riot actually didn't care about that because it's an "Opt in" feature. It's really weird and I will say I disagree. Since it can also be applied to the mute button in game. You don't have to opt in to chat with them in game, which can be controlled by the mute button.

But yeah, I agree with OP on this and wish riot would change their stance on this. But it's their game and those are their rules. So if you really dislike somebody, don't flame them in game. Add them as a friend after then flame until they delete you.

I had somewhat the same problem. But their was a guy on my team who just threaten to kill me, and to hire a hitman to go kill me. Me and the others reported him and his account got banned. BUT, later on there was this random account who sent me a friend request. I didn't know who it was, i thought it was someone i played with earlier or something, so i accepted. But it turns out it was that toxic guy's 2nd account. He asked me "are you ready?" and i asked "who is this? do i know you?" he said. "are you ready to die? the hitboy is on his way, i can't wait until you die...later loser xd" But he unfriended me to quickly so i couldn't screenshot or copypaste it somewhere to send to riot. I hope riot would make it so the chat stays so i have evidence to report.

If you have a screencap you can put in a ticket, if not, sorry, dont add randos.

Besides, depending on your location, Riot can already be held accountable for things said by other users in private chat under certain circumstances--particularly if they do nothing to mitigate the possibility of such scenarios.
