Context of the Situation
Preface: I expect to be berated for this post. Whilst I understand that fighting fire with fire is counterproductive, one should not be punished for standing up against toxic players in defense of either themselves, or other players.
As I am sure many are aware, the community on the boards tend to overlook issues with the current report and punishment system, and believe that the current system in place is flawless.
However, there ARE flaws, and there ARE mistakes, as with many judicial systems. The problem with the current one is when it comes to the issue on context.
In real judicial systems, and courts of law, there is an aspect of a case taken into account before administrating a judgement unto any person. This aspect is context.
In order to properly issue a sentence, the context of the situation must first be recognized. For example, in regards to a case of any person killing another, there must be some form of context behind the situation.
Was this in the form of self defense, or strictly for malevolent reasons?
I think that we should have a reevaluation of the current system in place. Not only this, but if a player is ever punished for what he/she has said in chat logs, there needs to also be a context given. Strictly just showing what a player had said themselves is not enough evidence to support a punishment.
Could we please get a system implemented that not only showed a player's chat history, but that of the entire game? It would make cases of punishments far easier to deal with, and make decisions on.
P.S. I know Riot has the capabilities of implementing this, as they have access to a player's full game and chat history, down to the pings. I only know of this from speaking with a Riot employee myself.
Thank you for your time.
~Peace
