Problems with League of Legends (New player perspective)

So I was invited to league of legends by a friend of mine. Ever since then, 5 of us would group up and play games but, recently I've encountered a lot of problems. When I don't play with my friends, as soon as I die because I'm new, people are negative and flame me in chat. Of course my friend told me to mute them because he is well aware of the toxicity in-game but does riot ever do anything? Every game I play, I at least encounter some form of toxicity whether it be pinging or verbal. here are the lists of words I remember: bronzie inter retard tard sped idiot degenerate f%gg%t

some even go as far to tell me to go commit to ending my life and make threats to my parents. Of course that form of extreme toxicity doesn't happen a lot but it does happen enough for me to make and complain about this issue.

If this toxicity wasn't a problem and occurred only once every 4-5 games, I would be fine. BUT IT IS CONSTANT. please do something about this riot. until then I am only playing when my friends can play. I've had enough of the verbal harassment and I'm not going to waste my time getting stressed out and feeling down because I can't play the game properly.

no matter how strong your mentality is, if you repeatedly get hit by words that are offensive, you start to break down.

Okay, so first of all, why is calling you "bronzie" offensive to you, when you are clearly a bronzie? Start the game with mute all, if you are really breaking down solely from words. And no, every sane people would not give a fck about a stranger's flame, you are the special one here if you "start to break down". Practice more in PvE mode and Git Gud.

So yeah, while being flamed a lot is not good, trust me, being in a team with a bronzie does not feel good either.

Firstly welcome to league and welcome to the behavior boards . Ask questions, and you'll get them. But sometimes you have to ask the right questions.

Behavior faq is a good place to start if you got questions on how the report works. https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/207489286-Instant-Feedback-System-FAQ-

League currently has a couple of pockets of extreme toxicity. These are; bronze5 where people don't give a fuck, plat5 and diamond5 where people's ego are inflated so much because they are better than majority of the players, and low level < lvl 25.

Low level is pretty much a pool of the worst behaviors because the players that were toxic got 14-day banned and permabanned. They start new accounts, but continue with their toxic ways. They typically can't hold their anger, so by the time lvl 25 hits, they would have been punished again.

In regards to whether riot does anything to toxicity, they do. The system punishes people based on consistency x severity. Meaning players can get punished for 1 game of extreme toxicity or mannnnyyy games of mild toxicity. Typically, the toxics have a habit of bursts of severe toxicity and mild toxicity here and there, so they probably will get punished within a few dozen games.

no matter how strong your mentality is, if you repeatedly get hit by words that are offensive, you start to break down.

Only if you pay atention to the chat box more than any other place on the screen, which, quite frankly, means this isn't the game for you.

Dont ever think you are wrong in this. Its really toxic community.. its so bad that everyone I know doesn't want anything to do with Lol because of how toxic the players are & cant even recommend other friends because its really gotten that bad.

It's just gotten worst over the years. even though I have improved enough not to get it next to none anymore. The things I seen said to new players is down right disgusting.

Anyone who defends it, should really be ashed of themselves. Learn to be a better person & have some damn respect.

Hey person i feel u, you just gotta find enough cool random people online that you can play with when ur normal friends aren't on. Some times all it takes is knowing u have at least one person on ur side when the flamers get mad over dumb stuff or thier own lack of skill.

Add me.

I know that people can be very negative in game but if you do stick it through and commit some time to the game it truly is a wonderful rewarding game.

Emotions run high in competitive environments just focus on you.

/all chat is disabled for me automatically by the game in the settings. You should do it too! Go to settings > Interface > then scrolldown and tick the box for "mute all chat".

I also mute my teammates when I start playing bad, or when they start to flame. You can do this by typing /mute all or /mute [player name]

You should try it. Always mute if you start getting uncomfortable. If you're playing with friends, then use voice chat instead either by partying up or using Discord or some other software like Skype or Whatsapp

Good luck dude. Have fun.

I'll say this again, if you ever feel uncomfortable, type /mute all

You can always unmute by typing /mute all again

You got to think about having fun and being happy. If you aren't having a great time, there are a ton of other options out there. That is what a lot of people are discovering, and its why LoL is declining. I can start a game of HOI4, God of War or Dead Cell and have a guaranteed great time; while playing LoL can often be a piss poor experience.
