Is taking someone's role in ranked a punishable offense?

So I just played ranked on my alt and this guy takes my role (top lane) even though I got the role. Is it punishable? Should I file a support ticket or is reporting in-game fine enough?

I had a Rioter explain it to me like this when I complained about it.....No one ever "steals" your role. They just didn't play theirs. I.e. If you got top and the mid went top...they did not stop YOU from going top. That was just riot's way of telling me to stfu and deal with it and if i say anything in chat then I will be the being looked at for punishment >< .

It should be. I'd report him.

Taking someone's role in general is a punishable offense; regardless of whether it happens in Normal Draft Pick or Ranked. Reporting them in-game should be enough (make sure to select Intentional Feeding and note in the details section about them trying to steal your role without communication/permission), though you can file a Support Ticket if you feel it necessary.

NA Ranked lobby: Jungler: locks in Zilean Chinese name jungler: "sup" ... "i'm supp" Me: "not unless you want a first time Orianna jungle in a ranked game" Chinese text Seconds before match start "fuck" grabs smite

So he bitched and moaned but "tried" to play his role, and in the end we all got wrecked because their team had a jungler and our team had nothing until the enemy was already past all the T1 turrets. He finally managed to snag two assists after that. Dude's match history says he knows how to jungle, so IMO he could have done better with any champion if he was actually trying.

No feedback, because from the system's perspective that just looks like offmeta play. It isn't obvious to a computer that the dude was either trolling from the start or chose to troll because his attempt to hijack a role failed.

What did you do in the game? It matters.

If you want to punish someone report that person. Don't worry about rules or any of that cheap crap, just think about whether you would personally punish that person. If the answer is yes, report him. That's all you need to think about.

I'd say it should be punishable, but that riot probably wouldn't care much unfortunately. I'd file a ticket anyway just in case.

it shouldn't be. there is no reason what so ever to cause so much drama over a lane. so fucking what if they are in lane with you even though you called it first? where they go is their choice. where you go is your choice. neither of you influences the other. if someone is in lane with you be sensible and share the lane as opposed to throwing a tantrum over it. "but it is suppose to be only 1 top" that is typical meta. breaking the meta is not punishable. if it was off meta would not be a thing. and if you have no jg then 2 top is acceptable.

Few days ago, it was norm and I chose to play Jhin mid, a wild Yasuo appeared who was assigned to adc told in champ select seconds before the game that he was going mid. He did without asking me, is this punishable?

That honestly depends on what you mean by "taking your role"

Communication, or lack of communication is most likely to be the key to deciding if this is punishable or not.

There could be an argument made for that just being their strategy, but the fact that it puts you in an awkward position is not good. If they showed any clear indication that they are intentionally doing it to make the game difficult for you, they can be punished for it.

This wouldn't be something that you would know without essentially stalking that player though. Riot would need to look into it for themselves.

For example, if they show a pattern of ALWAYS going top, even when drafted into other roles, that is a problem.

Depends on what you did after he took your role. Did you stick with your own role or did you involuntarily swap over to his? Because if you swapped roles then I don't know if Riot will punish him. See, its only a problem that they will notice once there are two people playing top. But if everything is working fine and there's an accommodating party. I doubt that they'd do something about it. There was some guy who posted a thread on this. He was support and the jungle simply locked in a Lux before him, saying that he's going support. I don't think that the Lux taking his role was punished for it because he went jungle. (Didn't want to lose the game)

Is it normal for idiot's to take role's and the normal player is punished these days?
