Is raging at new players a sport?

Out of all of the games I've played so far about half have had players who seemed to think the best motivation for their teammates was bashing them or just plain cursing them out. I especially liked the ones who start before the game even begins because you chose the champ they wanted. Is this the norm or have I just had bad luck with the solo matching system?

I have also had players that spend more time 'critiquing' others as they put it instead of playing. I like the game. I am still learning, though. I won't play the best. I have games where I am the worst player imaginable and games where I'm half decent. Were these people never new or unskilled? I'm 28 and my learning curve is not what it was when I had my night elf in WoW.

I have dealt with these type people in other games, but I'm just saying they seem more plentiful here. It won't make me leave because I like the game, but it does make me wonder what their real life is like? If they can't handle the stress of a video game then how are they going to manage the stress of a mortgage, kids--heck, a dog!?

If someone is feeding a lane it may just be inexperience, not intentional. That said, either way, that old adage of if you don't have anything nice to say then say nothing at all goes a long way. One of the quickest way to lose the motivation of a teammate is to criticize them or lash out at them. That is not a philosophy of the game. It's HR 101.

In case you didn't know, there is a mute feature. It lets you not see their chat.

You can type into the chat box:

/mute @username ie, /mute @jeseil

Or

/mute @Champion Name ie, /mute @Karma

The word ignore works the same way. You can also press the sound button on the tab menu next to the champions' faces. Muting liberally is the key to a better gaming experience on League.

It's normal. Players who pick the selected champ and lock in, are insta-lockers. Furthermore, I hope Riot improves the game modes, but I digress. In any case, no. Informing someone that they are bad goes two ways: 1) it does not make them lose motivation, for it is based on the persons own self-esteem that allows them for her/him to be succumbed by such words and drown in it (furthermore, if the person is, whether good or not, needs to realize they're bad at PvP period 'cause if they persist in playing than most likely, they will surely struggle late in the game for not having an iron will). 2) being informed of your weaknesses for being a bad player actually helps you realize you're bad and in doing so, will allow you strengthen your weakness and improve to have an iron will to improve.

Just wondering, are you hamming this up & pretending you didn't know? I got the impression that might be the case after your first reply. I don't mind it if you are. If not, glad it helped. Not everyone knows these things I guess. :)

Another tip, if you ever run into a situation where your computer freezes up, usually pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete will enable you to get the desktop back in focus, and you can disable/end the process of the program that froze. Can sometimes be a lot faster than waiting for a program to respond, or for it to eventually crash after freezing, and waiting for the OS to give you the option to close the program.

Sometimes it's actually faster to get back to the desktop this way, depending on the game you're playing, than Alt + Tab is. LoL isn't one of those games however, at least on my PC.

If you're on Windows 7 or a similar OS you might get the other screen that comes up when you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete that wasn't present in older operating systems. You have to click the last option above "Cancel" that says "Start Task Manager". Task Manager is what lets you end/turn off programs.
