Ranked Exemptions / Low ELO Crackdown

Ranked is a toxic wasteland and it sucks. Inting and verbal abuse reports are all over the place in my ranked games. I report the players who do it, but I can't help but feel like it's unfair that we not only rarely give actual game or IP bans to players who are consistently toxic all game long, but that the people on the team of the reported player still lose LP. That's like going to a basketball game but half your team spends the whole game cursing each other out. It's unfair and it's clear. It's what demotivates players from ever touching ranked. Increased toxicity AND you lose LP for trying your best kind of sucks, especially newcomers or players who just want to get better at the game. I think voiding ranked games with players who inted or were toxic overall is something riot should look into at least trying to implement. I stopped playing ranked because for every game I won, I got 2 more where my teammates spent all game either typing or inting. I also think it's worth cracking down on low ELO trolls. Low ELO is where the majority of the player base resides but Riot still insists on focusing bans on streamers, LCS players, and high ELO.

But would you really want to NOT win any LP for a 60+ minutes hard fought game just because one player on the other side decided to flame their teammates? Voiding game means the winning side also don't gain LP right? Someone spammed a few "fuck you" on the other side and you are robbed of your LP gain that you legitimately earned. Is this the kind of ranked games you want to be playing???? Will you be right back here complaining why you cannot gain any LP even though you won that game fair and square?

If you'd look at these boards, you'd see damn well that people get banned permanently. You are correct that IP bans are not used - because they are useless in today's day and age. For various reasons, many (most?) modems automatically recycle IP addresses on a time basis, up to multiple times per week in fact. This means that now the originally banned user isn't banned anymore, and that someone else who happens to have that IP recycled to their use will be banned for no reason. Even modems that don't auto recycle IP can usually be told "please give me a new IP" with a button on the modem, by using the modem's webpage, or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

The concept of voiding games is one that is infeasable. For one, it feels really bad to win a game then be told it wouldn't count simply because of the actions of an enemy player. But you'd have to completely void the win and loss if you want to do anything, because LP doesn't work like that where you can have games where one team wins and the other doesn't lose. It also doesn't make sense to say hours or days later "yo, remember that report? Here's LP back" - you're potentially already in a different MMR/rank and it wouldn't make sense.

To be quite honest with you, I'm not srure why you're seeing all this toxicity. It surprises me. I see hardly any in my games. I do not mean this in a rude way at all - but it may be time to look at what actions you're taking that may be resulting in this behavior being more prevalent in your games. You aren't necessarily doing anything wrong - but something not being wrong doesn't mean it should be done, if that makes sense.

If you think this is a problem exclusive to low elo, you will be in for a big surprise if you ever climb.
