POLL, first time -X- champion in ranked should be punishable

The use of a champion for the first time EVER, not in normals, not in bot games, not in special event games I mean NEVER EVER used the champion SHOULD be a banable offence IMO.

Its rare but it has happened that some players use a champion for the first time and bring it to rank only to get shit on and then make everyone in the team frustrated and upset, not only is he making 4 others lose but also ruin their day.

I've made a less biased poll that I'd recommend using next time if you want usable data without inherent bias:

Do you feel playing a champion for the first time in a ranked game should be punishable? -- Yes | No

do not include manipulative phrases in polls, it won't reflect honest opinions and will lead to not taking you seriously.

That's a bad poll imo

The problem with your poll is it wants 2 different things. If they are first time and if they are any good at it.

I've 1st timed champs in ranked before and done perfectly fine. Does that mean I should be penalized because I 1st timed them or is it fine because I did well?

I've been in the situation where two of my champions for a role were picked by opponents, and one of them countered my third.

While I had, technically, played the champion I chose for the game, it had only been in 1 bot game and maybe an ARAM or 2. I didn't do terrible, but I had to think too much to use abilities and buy items I hoped would work.

A ban is too far, but I think I prefer the HotS approach to this - you can't touch ranked until you acheive a certain level with a certain number of champions. You ought not to be allowed into ranked until you've played a certain number of games with each champ.

In my opinion -- no there are plenty of champs/instances that are easy enough to pick up playing them for the first time. I personally played my first ever Teemo game in ranked with a team that had no magic damage when my 3 top lane picks were banned and I was up against a Tryn top. It ended up being an easy win.

On a side note -- your voting options are stupid. If you want people to take you seriously make it "yes/no" otherwise it's just seen as a troll post.

Ok, if you really want to force players to have a certain number of games with each champion, that would make 140x games. When you consider the frustration people have with voluntary missions requiring specific champions, well, it would be likely piss off far more players than the occasional First Time player.

Now, do I think it's a good idea to restrict recently released champions from ranked? Yes. With as many op/up releases, I think it makes sense to see how they hold up in the "real" world outside PBE before introducing them into competative play. And it gives at least some introductory time to regular players.

Could just have first time champs locked behind like 5 normal games

I think the biggest problem is if you get autofilled into a role you don't play so you're forced to play a champion you've never played before. Other than that reason, if you're first timing a champ just because you want tot try the champ out, never do that in ranked. As for one-tricks, that's a bad idea in general. You should know at least 3 champs in your role to account for possible picks and bans.

No, thats unfair, considerjng you have to spend game currency to unlock champs. What if someone is autofilled support, only owns 4 support champs, and then 3 of them got banned. Hes left with either; play a mage, which he has heard countless people bitch about as support, or play an actual support champ hes never played before. He had THREE supports he usually plays, but 2 got banned and 1 got stolen by the other team. It just isnt a possible solution given situations like this arise.
