Why be rude to those stilllearning?

I fail to understand why some people feel they have to insult new players and call them noobs when they are playing in the introductory level of the bot games. if you arent a noob you shouldnt be in there surely. If you want to play in that area accept that it is supposed to be for those who are still learning the game so keep your mouths shut and put up with mistakes instead of insulting those who are genuinely tying to learn the game. It's behaviour like that which gives games like this a bad name.

When I was level 15 someone actually complained about me being 4-4 in beginner bots. Like, I'm still just learning how to play and control a champion, much less figure out the game strategy and mechanics lol.

Anyway, what's even stupider is when people smurf and harass the people they are playing with or against for having a lack of skill or knowledge. What did you expect????

the problem is its like the bullying effect, they got called a noob in normals so they play a bot game so they can call others noobs and feel good about themselves. not saying its ok just giving you the psychology behind it.tip for all new players 1. play with friends if you can. 2. mute someone the second they say something toxic, they are not worth your time.

First time ever playing Zed, I decided to use my EUW account in bots since free to play roster and all. Proceeded to have friendly banter in chat after effing up a LOT, commented on how unintuitive Zed's kit it. Way too combo-centric with lightning reflexes so I was genuinely glad to know I wasn't going to waste IP on him.

Harassed rest of game by xenophobic Riven player (xenophobia because earlier somehow mentioned I'm a Canadian and was berated for being a "hillbilly" and much worse that I am not allowed to post in these forums) for being retarded and that I needed to kill myself for sucking at a video game of all things.

Let me guess: "Riven player" explains it?

Edit: Also, I looked up their account after the match and it was literally their second game EVER on that account so I'm willing to bet still particularly salty after what was likely a perma-ban of their main account if they have this attitude as bad as it is.

I think this stems from the nature of anonymity on the internet. There's no identification for a player other than their summoner name, so they feel safe in harassing others verbally. It seems as though the people who are extremely rude towards others have some desire to be a complete dick to another person without (immediate) repercussions, and as such they use this game as an outlet for it.

Fortunately the majority of people aren't complete ass-hats, hell some people are pretty cool here. It sucks that it's the negative voices that speak the loudest though.

It's like going into a kindergarten class and mocking their inability to solve algebra problems.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I love this game, it hits the sweet spot between Dota 2 (which is really intense on their mechanics) and HotS (which is a VERY casual game in general). Just enough ability spam without making it excessive, and enough mechanic depth to make it interesting without having to memorize all the stats. What is making me almost drop this game over others is the community. Not the boards so much as the random people in games.

The problem you bring up, I've encountered in every tier of game, from basic bot matches to my admittedly low silver 5 ranked games. The ragers who take out their frustration on you, the people who just feed, the botters who don't actually play the game but have the computer do it for them. These problems you will have throughout your League career, which is discouraging. The only way I've actually started to enjoy the game again is by having people that you know to game with. It's actually best if you use a voice chat with friends, I've had the most fun in this game with a 5 man with us all in voice chat and just joking around, while calling out things that matter in game. The next best thing I would have to say is find a community that has a bunch of like minded people, and game only with them. It's horrible that this is the way with this game, but it's the nature of this community.

I start being rude when they keep messing up with things that are not champion related (talking about normal games, not Bot):

  • face check bushes
  • solo plays against multitude
  • not helping team in general
  • chasing to sure death

In Bot games I might get a bit pissed off when they could actually help me and didn't just becuase they had to farm.

It's just fine. Chances are that toxic asshat had been slapped with a queue delay for being an asshat somewhere else, so he was burning through them in the easiest way possible.

Welcome to the game, sorry for the dregs. I've been around since the start of Season 2 (we're almost into 6 now), and I barely touched Normals until I reached 1000 Intermediate Bots games. Once I did however, I found I was well above what others expected a "fresh-faced, first time PvPing noob" to be. I spent most of my game time up to that point focusing on my teammates' plays, especially on champs I didn't know, along with a unhealthy love for LoL's Esports scene (I first learned about the game via the Season 1 World Championships).

My suggestion/advice?

Don't listen to the ragers. Report them after the match (the little red ! by their name in the post-game screen) and move on.

Watch some high-ranked and/or professional streamers on youtube or twitch (but not 'imaqtpie' and a few others, there's quite a few who just don't give a flying fudge most of the time). Bots is good for learning how to play a Champion or Role, but they don't teach you how to play against People. Only other People can teach you that. You've probably noticed it, but there's a box on the main game client where you can spectate high-ranked matches. I believe that is the single best thing Riot has done to help teach new players. Watch how they move, where they ward, how they set up for fights.

And never forget that it is Just A Game, =^.^=

The only time i ever get close to calling someone a noob is when i play support and get my adc 2 kills. Then they blow the lead doing stupid stuff because i try to save them and we both die. (i never say it in chat but i think it or will complain to a friend near by). My suggestion tho (it is probably said somewhere in the 90+ comments) find friends who you enjoy playing with and just relax and have fun. Playing with randoms is hit or miss.

Most players who play on low level accounts were probably banned, and are just playing on their alts till they get unbanned.

Why do you think those bashing on newbies got banned? Toxic.

So they see a bad player who doesnt know whats going on and just tears into them as being awful even if their only like level 7 playing their first normals.

waspcreaturesx12/21/2015, 8:26:10 AM2 votes

Personally if I'm playing a bot game, I'm only playing it to learn a new champion. There's a very good chance I SUCK with that champion. If I don't, then I LOVE when other people aren't amazing with their champions. Gives me more room for kills. I hate it more when I get a team of people who are amazing and the game ends in 10 minutes. I want a lengthy (~20min) bot game where I can get 15+ kills. If not games aren't to cushion your ego, what are they for?

shaiith12/20/2015, 12:13:21 PM1 votes

Sorry, but this is a game you play with friends, not a friendly game.

So, enjoy it with people you know. As a solo player however, you need to toughen up because there will always be mean players no matter where you go.
