Stop Banning People for Chat

This is a video game, being banned and having accounts permanently suspended for using bad words on chat is stupid. I repeat, this is a video game. Chat restrictions are also bad for whoever's team has someone with restrictions on it. The majority of time people report or convince the rest of a team to report is from being given advice and being too thin skinned to take it. You can give someone a suggestion and then they blow up. Last time, let me reiterate, GET RID OF CHAT RESTRICTIONS AND BANS FOR CHAT THIS IS A VIDEO GAME

This is a video game, being banned and having accounts permanently suspended for using free speech on chat is stupid.

Free Speech is the US Government saying they won't censor you. Last I checked, Riot Games was not owned or operated by the US Government.

The majority of time people report or convince the rest of a team to report is from being given advice and being too thin skinned to take it.

The chat logs others have posted to these boards certainly don't imply that.

You agreed hold yourself to a certain level of conduct when you created your account. If you are no longer able or willing to hold up what you agreed to, then it's Riot's decision to terminate the account as they see fit.

Why do you care so much? This is a video game.

I said this elsewhere and I'll repeat myself. You are absolutely free to disagree with the logic behind the rules. However, while on the surface it seems that ppl are banned for ill chats, deep down the actual truth is these ppl are banned for agreeing to abide by the rules - even if they make no sense to these ppl - then going back on their own words.

Sure, let's say these rules make no sense to ppl. In that case don't agree to them. And if they don't agree to them, then they shouldn't be playing this game. They are banned for agreeing to the rules yet acting in a way that contradict the rules, not just the act of breaking the rules itself.

Your logic: I should be allowed to ruin other people's fun by being an asshole because it's just a video game. [zombie-brand-mindblown]

Either play nice, or don't play at all. It's that simple. You don't go around screaming in your teammate's faces when you're playing soccer/football/hockey/lacrosse/whatever because they didn't score that goal or block that pass. Why do it in League? They're all just games, but only one of them gives you a computer screen to hide behind. I commend Riot for holding people responsible for how they treat others.

Being a dick is a shitty thing to do, video game or no. People are people, treat them as such.

If I have to mute somebody due to toxicity, then the following is likely true: -I have endured some amount of toxicity already -My team's ability to communicate and coordinate effectively has been reduced -I'm probably not the only person who has been wronged by the muted individual

Communicating suggestions and admonitions without resorting to toxic behavior is trivially easy. Rather than hide behind internet anonymity, actually take responsibility for your words, and choose them more carefully. Understand that you hold the power to ruin the game for others with your words and, in some rare cases, cause actual emotional damage. Understand that Riot doesn't condone that.
