My laptop overheated and...
... I got five twenty minute penalties, even after I came back. I wasn't even "AFK" at all, so why the penalties? Can someone please explain this to me? And is there even any way to clear the penalties?

Aorry, you actually deserved it. You abandoned the game, not intentionally but still.
How many times did you left/dodged to earn a 20 minute penalty instead of 5?
Obviously this mostly wasn't your fault, but leaverbuster still makes sense.
a) Your teammates (and opponents) have the reasonable expectation that your computer is in good working order. Your teammates would have preferred that you took steps to ensure your laptop didn't overheat. b) To have gotten a 20-minute penalty, you must have AFKed quite a few games before this. Is your laptop prone to overheating? Do you frequently rage-quit? Something is amiss here.
riots afk detection is notoriously bad.
things ive had warnings about include:
leaving after nexus exploded but before the victory screen showed up.
coming in the game at the 1:00 mark and making it to my lane in time.
leaving a bot game due to a family emergency.
You deserve them. Leaving the game for any period of time isn't okay, and it was long enough for their leaverbuster to hit you which is like 2-3 mins of straight inactivity. A laptop overheating is in no way a good excuse, they always say get better hardware to play the game on.
Okay, looks like I have quite a few things to get off my chest.
My laptop has overheated quite a few times IN PATCH 5, and I haven't had my laptop overheat whilst play LoL ever since. And it overheated like 5 times back in Patch 5. I have never ever violated the guidelines. I never dodge in my game and I don't AFK because I have "Trash Players" snowballing the hell out of my game. So don't even try to accuse me of that. I have been using the same laptop since Patch 5 and I never had a problem when it came to Patch 6.
If you have any more accusations you want to throw at me, I'd like to hear it.
