**** yourself, **** you.

Would writing the aboce be considered flaming or be bannable, if you actually write the "*" symbol instead of something like "f uck".

Someone reading " **** yourself" may interpret it as "KYS" but the writer actually never wrote it. Is the writer responsible for what the reader may interpret? Would doing so be putting words into the writers mouth?

It's clear that the intent is to come off as an insult, so I'd say yes, it can be considered flaming, and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that was bannable. Intent matters, and if that intent is to be toxic, you're going to be punished for it, regardless if you think you'll be able to get around the system.

I think this would be likely to be punishable, yes. The intent is pretty clearly intended to create a specific, negative reaction in the reader, just like saying "Krill Yourself" is technically nonsense related to a sea-creature, but still very obvious in what you meant to say.

You know that cursing isn't punishable but flaming is?

Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck.

I'm not going to be punished for cursing in the line above but flaming people by telling them to go fuck themselves is going to get you punished.

Whether you are trying to tell someone to kill themselves or to fuck themselves, you are still flaming them. One is a zero tolerance policy phrase and will get you a 14 day temp ban while the other is just flaming and will probably get you a chat restriction.

Both are bad. Don't do either.

Just don’t do either as others have stated.

Would you say these things to somebody on the street or to their face? If not I would t recommend saying it at all.

So, saying "fuck you" is not necessarily toxic inherently just because of the word "fuck" (which is what I think you're getting at). If we accept that "fuck you" is not inherently toxic, self censoring it by asterisks or any other form of censoring is not inherently toxic.

The context of this is important. If you are constantly telling their teammate to "$#%@ yourself" then yes, it is toxic. But if you just got killed by your lane opponent and you tell them to "@#$$ yourself", it's not really inherently toxic in my opinion.

But no Chermorg!** I just had someone tell me context doesn't matter!**

It won't carry the same weight as typing out the words you mean would, but it is negative behavior and could advance you along the punishment tiers if you are reported for it frequently.

If you believe in machine learning:

IFS would not flag it initially. However, it would become negative over time because people would report you. I suspect that "non-reported" instances of this would be rare. Considering the comments to this thread.

If you don't believe in machine learning:

IFS won't flag it. Maybe you get caught by a manual review and that particular Rioter gets offended and punishes.

You do realize that was a sarcastic remark, indicated by the italics...?

...As well as the sticker.... I'm not sure if it could have been any more clear with not one, but two remarks...
