On the Topic of China's Orwellian System

I recently came across this: A social tracking system called sesame credit that rates users based on social factors in China. In other words, a system to ensure that people who don't completely comply with governmental rules and regulations are punished.

A rumor has been going around that Tencent (owns a majority of Riot stock) and Alibaba helped create it, I would like to clear this up. The Chinese government hopes to implement this system to all people by 2020, but this system is separate from Alibaba's and Tencent's systems. Alibaba is creating software to give a social score based on purchase history (alibaba is an online market) while Tencent is working on a system to mine social media for information on people in order to give them a social score. Neither is known to be working on the Chinese governments version of the project.

But still, by paying Riot, you are supporting a corporation's intent to mine social network data to build up social profiles of their clients. This isn't so bad and is understandable, however, Tencent has proposed to let private lenders view users social interactions and crunched data...fairly creepy if you ask me, especially as the Chinese government is developing something similar to keep people in line.

Next time you buy RP, you could be ruining someone's chances at getting a loan in China, or further down the road, that same guy could end up tortured and dead, but that's all speculation, just food for thought. This can be taken with a grain of salt.
