Does anything positive come from this sub-board?

Does the player behavior board really amount to anything positive, or does it just help add to the negative image the boards tend to have? Looking at recent threads old enough to really amass any amount of up/down votes, practically every thread posted here gets 100% downvoted. https://i.imgur.com/Fp92PXg.png

Not saying it should be removed, nor that this is a recent change. Just putting it out there that it's almost exclusively used for players to post their (99/100 times toxic) chat logs, and complain about getting some form of punishment. Then people reiterate the same basic messages telling them why they were punished, and they counter back with the same basic excuses trying to condone their actions.

It's been at this point for years really where you could make a player behavior bingo, with spaces like

"I was defending myself" "I wasn't that toxic." "They started it" 'I didn't do anything wrong" "Player: /all Report [champion] trolling/toxic/inting" "players shouldn't be banned for toxic chat" "I shouldn't get punished for chat because mute exists" "the punishment system is unfair" "You just need thicker skin" "Fuck rito"

I won't sugar coat it, 90%+ of the stuff we get here on the PB boards is exactly what you described. However, for the 10% that actually need assistance, we're always glad to help.

I personally dislike it when these posts are downvoted. There are some cases (like where the poster is toxic towards everyone and won't listen to reason) where downvoting is expected/understandable, but the majority of posts don't deserve it. These posts are usually just people asking for help and clarification on what's punishable.

If you go down into the comment sections of the posts themselves, a lot of positive feedback is given and I've personally had a few heart-to-hearts with posters.

A mod made an announcement saying they might remove downvotes/votes all together in the Player Behavior board.

They have a right to think they didn't do anything wrong.

The problem in this board is that most people have this mentality:

Camille "* There are two sides to every issue, my side and the wrong side*". Simply not willing to tolerate opposing opinions.

player behavior bingo

Can someone make this a thing? I'd be down with a player behavior drinking game as well

tbh the bingo is the best part of this sub board.

and it's still better than gameplay where even the most r%%%%%ed posts get upvoted instead.

message boards in general are mostly for complaining about stuff.

yeah you Could make a message writing about how everyone was nice to you in a game and you worked together to get a win, but its boring and the replies will also be boring.

Does anything positive come from this sub-board?

Yes. What the subboard does is inform people about the systems that League uses, what they are, and how they work and it succeeds at that purpose. There's going to be an amount of repetition because that is also how teaching people publicly works. Of course, there's going to be people who don't know what you are reiterating and there's going to be people who insist they were right to act in whatever way (probably why they did it in the first place). But that's not a problem. That is, in fact, the reason for the board, to reiterate these things so that more people are capable of being exposed to the information.

*note "Then people reiterate the same basic messages telling them why they were punished, and they counter back with the same basic excuses trying to condone their actions." This is not a problem of the board itself but of the responders being awful at it. Quoting a part of the OP text and writing "Ugh, You're toxic. Punishment deserved" because they are looking to judge posts is not helpful. When instead of responding to what was written and trying to discuss the player behaviour systems you just throw out a one word accusation, of course the other guy is going to defend himself from the accusation that you made. What else did you think would happen?

It's because (player) behaviour is one of those things that can get you suspended in this game. That's why it's so "popular" and why a lot of people come here to talk about it (primarily their punishments). However, we're often met with rather hostile and negative threads which are looking for justifications, rather than explanations. This often leads to lofty downvotes, because people usually disagree with those kinds of "discussions" and don't want to partake in them.

Not everyone is like that, of course, and those who are willing to listen to the community and own up to their mistakes are what makes it worth it.

The boards are decent enough.

The people using them are the problem. More specifically, the people who are playing "bingo" are the problem. Belittling other peoples problems is rude as hell and never helps the suffering.

There is a major "self-righteous" problem in the player behavior community. Both sides really.

How does this get fixed? Starts with you. Be empathetic and sympathetic towards ALL people. Gradually, your positive attitude will spread to other people.

Does anything positive come from this sub-board?

It's the funniest sub board

Well, for starters we get insight on each other's perspective of the same situation. This can be quite useful and applicable even in your real life if you read these posts in a cool head(well some of these posts). So yeah something positive does indeed come from these boards. Also many people don't know a lot about how to connect to riot support or how the general method of appealing something goes and they come here for help.
