Riot: want to know why people dont like playing support? Read within

Simple reason, one of many. Support is seen as WORTHLESS.

"You are support. if support dies, so what" "support is just a meat shield" "Support is supposed to die so adc can get kills" "You are support, you are not allowed to say anything"

You want to know why people dont want to play support? Take a look at the rest of the team and see how they treat the support. Support is seen as a "Lane slave" to be kicked around and degraded. They say a support is "supposed to die" for adc, then turn around and if the support does die "report my support for "inting". Support is treated like shit, but still expected to "support" adc. Though I personally WILL not support an adc quick to throw me under the bus. I have 3 other teammates I can go support.

Supports are treated as a sort of "damned if you do, damned if you dont" More often then not I am degraded and insulted as the support for "you got no kills" as they completely ignore my assists, and yet the MOMENT I get a kill, it flips to "Wtf are you doing, OMG troll support taking adc's kills". No matter what supports do to try and SUPPORT our team, we are degraded, insulted, flamed and labeled as "Trolls" because we dont just lay down and let the enemy kill us so adc can have +1 kill. If the Adc dives in to a 1v3 and dies, somehow it becomes the "supports fault"

I see time and time again that as support I can blow all my abilities supporting my adc. I can CC the enemy, leash and keep my adc healed. But the moment they get a kill, any participation the support plays is immediately rendered null and void.

I have said it many times but I have had a game where I have used all my abilities as soraka to get my adc lucian a triple kill. Keeping lucian healed, Slow/silence/leashing the enemy with pokes. And yet as soon as the match was over, i was told how much of a "fucking useless support" i was. and How in lucians own words "you were fucking useless, those kills were all me"

If you want more people to want to play support and not be FORCED into autofill support, Fix this damn attitude where the support is just some disposable lane slave to be kicked around and degraded because they didnt throw themselves into a 1v3 so adc could try and pick up a couple last hits after support wears down the enemy. Fix this idea that the support is completely worthless because they arent 12/0 kda, and yet the moment they DO get a kill, immediately they are a "troll support" who is out to solely ruin adcs game with the intention to get every kill.

Riot keeps wondering why no one wants to really play support, and why they effectively have to be forced into it by autofill. Its not the champs Its not the items its not the support role itself Its the attitude that supports arent worth even helping when they are getting focused. That they are worth no more than bird shit on a shoe. That even when a support is getting focused and chased down for effectively keeping teams alive, the team will turn around and accuse the support of "inting" "report our support for intentional feeding" If support gets a kill, they are "trolling" If support doesnt get a kill, they are "fucking useless support cant even get a single kill" If support runs in to help try and pull an adc out alive its "report the inting support" If support DOESNt help or fails to pull the adc out alive "Omg report my trolling support" (or in my cases, my adc dives in 1v3 while I am backing due to No mana, then cries "useless fucking support" over and over and tells me how they dont need me) I had an adc throw a tantrum and idle in spawn, throwing the whole match because I, as support,.....had 3 CS, 3 FUCKING MINIONS caused him to lose his mind and sit in spawn sucking his thumb, throwing the whole match.

So Yeah, Maybe riot should take less of a look at the support role, and more at how the support role is seen by the rest of the team. and To my teams:

I am a support I am here to help keep the team alive. I am here to help get you fed and help win. I am NOT your meat shield I am not your scapegoat (we lost, so its all support's fault) I am not your sacrifice "supports job is to die so the adc can get away" I am NOT here to cater to your overinflated ego of how "OP" you are. I am not here to pat you on the back Dont tell me how to play my role when you dont even know how the role works to begin with! (Seriously, Autofill supports throw the biggest fucking tantrums and usually dodge in normals. Tell them "You got autofilled support, Its normals. Use it to learn the role" and the response you get is "Fuck that, I dont want to learn support, I want one of my roles" and then they throw a tantrum and dodge or "fine then i will just feed/troll") I am sure there are plenty of other Support Lane Horror stories. Why not share some.

I’ve mained support all the time I’ve played league. I have had the toxicity toward supports, but they are pretty seldom, at least from my experience. If others start giving you attitude, just mute and play your game.

As for being auto filled support, I’m finding that lately isn’t the case: when I pick auto fill, support is actually something I rarely get, somewhere around 25%. In fact, the only time this year my role has been stolen was a mid stealing my support role.

iv been a support main since season 3. you cant be more wrong. once you get the game knowledge you will be hailed a god. instead of complaining on the boards get that knowledge start learning. i would say about 85% of my games at least 1 person says they love me just for that fact. here let me help you become less "worthless".

  1. play more agressive
  2. manage wards to backing ratio once you have the support item quest done or have SS
  3. once get you get a kill and are backing bot even if you dont have alot of cc go mid and see what you can get if mid laner is there of course. this is called "roaming" this is where support can take control of the game.
  4. do not use your pinks bot either pink mid lane or the enemy jungle since most the time the jungler wont clear that ward and gives you alot of vision time for that cost of the ward making it very efficient place to put it.
  5. what i would say would be the most important and last step for low elo players. play "play-maker" champions. janna raka morg you wont learn much or anything with champs like those. i know you have a problem with this last step. but it will help you learn much faster since you are more involved with the game than just being a shield/ward bot.

these are very simple but over looked things you can do to better yourself. even better get off the forums go to youtube and watch some tutorial videos for my advice i gave to give you a more in depth explanation on those items.

also dont worry about skills, those will come in time. just these small things can get you to gold easy by taking control of the game YOURSELF. once you stop making excuses for yourself the sky is the limit. we believe in you. good luck to you on the rift.

That mindset that you see typically happens at the lower elos. Higher elos dont think that way for supports.

I know right? But the thing is when I am treated like crap and I kinda love it, and if I am treated well, I also love it, dunno which I love more. Ya know what they call us, heal sluts & shield sluts too. Ive been called braindead and some ungodly things I rather not say. There's something about it that I simply don't care about and will keep Q'ing up for support. Gotta love the perk of the shorter Queue times that comes with maining support too.

Offer advice to an ally laner? Well, fugg me, Im the support, shut up. This has happened and I find it hilarious and sad at the same time. Ya know who does usually recognise very well my job as a supports? The enemy team! That's it, and boy they hate me for it!

Might I have a psychological problem? Of course not, Im a perfectly healthy individual and Im definitely not aroused with playing support or writting this

What you've just typed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for reading it. I award you no points, and may Riot have mercy on your soul.

When I play supports, I make it a point to try to get an S.

A possible issue is that few Carry likes to see a Support with a better score. OCD is a thing. Two players may have opposing views on how the lane should go and neither will back down about it.

I have to admit though, usually, the ADC is the toxic one, but there are a fair amount of supports who make the role look bad in my elo.

Ah hell who am I kidding, there are people in every role that makes the role look bad in my elo.

I've mained support since s1 and, yea, people bitch at you sometimes. Better to just hit the mute button and not take it to heart.

Support pretty much should just be helping the adc to ramp up and you do have to die to keep the team alive sometimes. I don't know about your experiences but i can tell you just play normals all day and is scared of ranked and don't want to better improve yourself to understand how supports work or the game in general.xd

I don't know, things seemed to have changed in the last couple of seasons.

Everyone has access to trinkets, support wards are tied to their support item and their method of acquirement is visible to their laning buddy (mostly coin and relic shield) and then their team with the chat announcement, more visible support item actives... not to mention the occasional broken support metas like Ardent Censer. Not to mention everyone has a vision score now, and you know how people are when it comes to getting BIGGER NUMBERS.

Sure, you'll get a few stuck up pricks, but support effectiveness visibility is UP and things are a lot better than what they were before. It might not be the most popular role, but I see a lot less people shitting on me nowadays for just doing my job.
