Should i just start doing this exploit also?, because some people on my friends lists are doing it and they are very adamant that riot wont do anything about it or strip their already "earned" rewards away. One of my friends lists members said he already got every icon and chroma by just afking in a tft game and he gets around 5th about 30% of the time, since others are afk in normal games aswell.
I don't see a reason to get punished. You are not affecting anyone else's gameplay except your own.
If anything they get a higher spot than you.
Not really an effective exploit if one at all. I've learned if you go to the https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/esports/esports-event/learn-more-worlds-2019-event it lists this:
"Get 1st or 2nd in TFT to earn 10 Tokens
Get 3rd or 4th in TFT to earn 8 Tokens
Get 5th or 6th in TFT to earn 6 Tokens
Get 7th or 8th in TFT to earn 4 Tokens
Note: In TFT, you must be in a match for at least 15 minutes to earn token rewards."
I've tried this myself, it's highly ineffective, often not worth it as in the outcome you earn less and waste more time. Even if you dc from one and always get 8th place, you can stack 4, but is it truly worth 16 tokens, in like 4 different games that could take up to 30-40 minutes each on average/often?
tl;dr there isn't any punishment as it is your own individual performance in the game, and only effects yourself.
