Long and Permanent Bans

There are hundreds of temporarily banned, chat restricted, and permanently banned players in League of legends. Of course at the moment Riot cannot change a given ban or restriction because they must treat people equally and others would be outraged if someone got different treatment. The problem with this policy of punishment is that it does not solve any problems of toxicity. Permanently banned players will simply make a new account and other banned players will just wait out there ban and continue to be toxic but in a milder way in order to avoid another ban. Riot is not removing any toxicity from the game with these bans because these players are not learning to change, and on top of that new toxic players will always arise. However, There is an opportunity to change this policy in order to improve the community. Hundreds of punished players are at Riots “fingertips” so to say because they all want something that Riot has, their accounts. These players are all motivated to get their accounts back and Riot can channel this motivation and energy into something positive for the community. These players are all willing to listen to what Riot has to say if it involves them getting their accounts back. What I suggest is that in order to reduce a ban, or restriction a player has the opportunity to do so only if they first complete an online anti-harassment/anti-bullying program. Once completed they must write short papers on why toxicity is wrong and some of these letters could be shared on Riots website so that others can learn that flaming is not ok. If this is not enough, then maybe they must have to prove that they have changed by leveling and account to level 30 without being toxic throughout the process. This will not only prove that they have changed their ways but also set a good example for the people they play with. If they successfully complete these tasks then they should be able to get their account back. This plan not only helps rids toxicity in toxic players but prevents it from arising in new players. Maybe my plan is not the best way to channel toxic players energy, but I am sure people at Riot can come up with more ideas than I can. I am not trying to say that a person such as Tyler1 should be unbanned, but I am trying to say that I see an opportunity for Riot Games to reduce toxicity in League, and teach people of its negativity. Thank you for your time, Anthony Fiori

They already tried a "level 20" challenge for a select few permanently banned players.

The challenge was that if they could reach level 20 without incurring any reports that are deemed legitimate, they could get their account back.

The results were abysmal. A vast majority of players failed the challenge, and Riot already only chose people that they felt were most likely to pass.

So no, I don't agree. If a person has ignored previous warnings (the chat restriction and the 14-day ban), they've already proved that they're unlikely to remain civil in chat no matter what the punishment. So Riot doesn't want them playing.

Riot already gives special treatment lol. Just look at the forums......even rioters have admitted it. Some people get 7+ chances to reform......some don't even get 1.

Let alone the fact that they already tried something like this in the past. I just dont see this happening. If people are breaking the rules they'll continue to do so till they are bored. Not only the fact that they made getting to level 30 easier/faster, but this is a free to play game, and because of that anyone is free to make an account. The whole point of a punishment is for you to change. You get numerous warnings/punishment to tell you to stop and if you cannot see the error of your ways you only have yourself to blame. Hell Riot is even lucky enough to give such warnings/second chances. Most games will just out right ban you.
