League harbors racists, as long as they are paying customers (proof)

A gold player was typing "dumb n!gger" and "porch monkey" and a bunch of other racial slurs in the lobby and in game, so I told him I was reporting him.

But he informed me (correctly I might add) that because he has spent money on the game riot will not ban his account. I told him I'll check in a few days to see, and lo and behold he is still playing like nothing happened.

I even submitted a help ticket so I know for a fact they received the complaint.

Riot could care less about racists as long as they are paying customers. So that report button is meaningless. Just a placebo.

Been discussing this on my gaming blog today. The general concensus has been that racism and all manner of toxicity exists here because it is harbored as opposed to punished. But I needed to witness it, because until this incident where a person gloats that they are racist all the time and it never matters as long as they buy riot points. I was skeptical.

Players are not treated differently regardless of how much they might spend (you'll frequently see "Why did I get permabanned when I spent $500" threads).

Riot absolutely is not ok with racist behavior, and it results in 14 day or permanent bans just for the first offense (again, just read the cases on this board). However, the match still has to be reviewed, and a case review is not done every time someone reports. They have to be reported frequently before that happens, which is why sometimes a player might go unpunished for some time for this kind of behavior. All you need to do is report it, and as long as your reports are accurate it will contribute to a case against them.

Riot could indeed care less about racists.

Because all evidence points to this man being a paying customer and means he wasnt or isnt going to be punished.

I 100% agree with DT Nami.

Just because you reported him and he hasn't been punished (yet) does not mean:

  1. He won't be punished.
  2. Nobody gets punished for that behavior.

I've reported plenty of people over the years both in client and even via support tickets for the more...severe...offenses. Most people were likely never punished or punished very lightly. Sometimes they are punished and sometimes they've been perma-banned (AFAIK since they don't tell you the results but when they stop playing suddenly and forever it's a good sign).

Also, thanks for removing the summoner names from the screenshots. Most summoners forget they need to do that when posting here.

Racism is harshly punished but it does sometimes slip through the cracks, and that is in no way proof that it's related to whether the user spends money on their account or not. It's a common misconception that some toxic people have before they get hit with the banhammer.

If you're concerned that this person does it a lot and still somehow isn't punished, submit a ticket, way better than sensationalizing it in a misguided post.

How do you discuss something like thus on a blog without actually doing research on the topic? The hate speech rules arent even hard to find.

OP here.

To elaborate on some of the speculation in this thread... I didn't assume he was not punished, I have his summoner name. I looked him up on op.gg so I 100% confirmed he received no ban whatsoever. In fact, he was playing today.

So to recap: He typed STUPID N!GGERS into lobby, used assorted slurs continually in lobby and in game chat Was reported both at end screen and as a help ticket (I have a screenshot of the ticket also) That was a week ago. He is still playing. No ban whatsoever.

So there is no speculation.. no hypotheticals, no guesswork. Riot simply didnt care that he is racist.

#FACTS

Riot harbors racists.

What does even "porch monkey" means?

I may be stupid but wtf does porch monkey mean...

AeroWaffle10/22/2016, 6:48:40 AM1 votes

OP made many assumptions with very little actual research, and attempts to pass them all off as fact.

Let's be real about this: Someone saying that they can email Riot and get you banned is pretty much the "My dad works at Microsoft and I can tell him to get you banned". It's something I remember hearing all the time when I played Call of Duty and it was someone who was easily under the age of 12 saying it.

League of Legends is the MOBA version of Call of Duty, and has a near identical community to match. That's why you see racists, misogynists, internet tough guys, etc. in this community and ingame. The best thing to do is report and send a support ticket in to Riot with the unedited picture.

Also, people who claim that they paid 'x' amount of money and that means they have immunity from bans are complete liars who haven't read the ToU of League of Legends. Just report them then send in a support ticket. Chances are, they'll get banned.
