I'm sorry Riot, but I'm done. I won't tolerate this from this game. Read this or don't, whatever.

I came back to League after about two months away. I heard some people on my team complaining about targeted DDOSing slowing them down, but I assumed it was just typical excuses for poor performance. As someone who doesn't really mind when one of my teammates has a bad game, I didn't think much of it. Then I noticed in several of my games - not all, but maybe once every 15 or so games - I'd have interesting little experiences. I'd freeze up at the most inopportune moments, sometimes getting a "reconnecting" dialog. Except my ping was around 17ms the entire time. I live IN Chicago and have an 80 Mbps internet connection, so I should NEVER lag. And generally, I don't. In fact, I've played League for some five years without... EVER lagging, to my memory.

I did some digging around about this DDOSing issue and it turns out it's legitimate. So legitimate that Riot actually set up a way to protect against it. Via a Skype proxy connection. Look, guys, I'm not downloading a third party program I'll never use - and in fact one that opens my computer to port scans, according to my antivirus software - to play League. And I'm certainly not putting up with the bull excrement that is lagging during every fourth trade and having the enemy carry go 10/0 at my expense. League is not NEARLY a fun enough game to tolerate all that for.

The fact that this is such an epidemic is, if I may say, not only disconcerting... but downright shameful. Riot, you are a multi-million dollar operation. You're not an indie garage operation anymore. You can spend the money to bring in the people with the tools and know-how to protect your players better than this, and your players deserve it. You can remove this post if you wish. I completely understand if you do, and I wouldn't hold it against you. But I'd just like you to know that I've been a loyal player for several years, and I find your apparent lack of action in regards to cheating such as this downright disgraceful. Just a thought, but perhaps if you spent less time on esports and more time attending to the needs of the players who actually keep your game afloat, such things wouldn't become a problem.

The game has been fun for years, but I won't tolerate this. I'm uninstalling, and I will never play another game from this studio for the rest of my days unless I one day read that Riot has taken strong measures to protect its players from things like this.

I have not experienced nor have I met anyone who has experienced a targeted DDOS attack on specific matches. The term epidemic seems a bit exaggerated here. I can understand your frustration regardless with the issues you've had and I wish you well in future endeavors.

I don't think you actually understand how difficult it is to prevent DOS attacks. Major companies get hit by these and knocked out for days. Riot, or any company, can't be expected to stop DOS attacks coming from one players network to another.

Amendment: Why doesn't your uninstaller work properly anymore? I hate having to manually uninstall things...

As a victim of being DDOSed i can say this is the absolute worst feeling anyone can experience ingame.

I had this happen to me a few times and its just horrible. It honestly feels like rape. You do really good vs your opponent then he gets really mad, sticks a gun in your face and tells you to stop playing. Only to humilate you in front of everyone while you are powerless to do anything to stop him.

Its the worst kind of cheating and i do agree that riot does overlook a lot of cases where it happens.
