I just went into a match, and was speaking french with a fellow french speaker on the enemy team, and one of the players started on saying Paris deserved to be hit by the terrorist attacks, and that they had it coming. I'm french born, my boyfriend in the match is also french born, we both lost family and friends in those attacks. The worst part about this, was that he'll get away with it, and riot will do nothing to punish him, and because I broke down in tears over it, and had to leave the game to calm down, I'll probably get punished instead.

Probably will. System is working as intended. There is no excuse for you to leave a game in progress. That's toxic. You're supposed to mute the people who offend you and ignore them. Then report them after game.

I am so sorry... Unfortunately, the kind of people that would use such a tragedy to harass you are probably too dead inside to feel any remorse even if they are punished. You should pity those wretched sociopaths, since they have clearly lost their humanity.

OP sorry to hear about this...However ^^ This is the comment to listen to. I'd have told the same but seen this to late. Some other posters just try to under people skin because they themselves are salty for being punished..Don't worry about them...

Some people just don't care what they say or who they hurt. I don't understand why anyone needs to say something like that in-game truly horrible.

The second he mentioned something like that you should have just muted the person. It really is easy. Also the report system works great honestly. I have rarely been super toxic and never to that degree, but when I am i get a warning right after game or just recently a chat ban on one of my accounts. And for that chat ban every time I log on it shows me the messages, holy shit was I toxic. Look there are people like that in every community, whether it be in a game or irl. You just have to realize that and figure out ways around them.

Did you report the jerk? No? Then you're right. Nothing will be done. That may seem cold. But there are ways to deal with that kind of behavior. If you will not utilize those options, your emotional distress will be for nothing.
