Why are people more likely to agree with their friends, when their friends might be wrong?

It kind of sucks because when you're playing with like a premade 3 or 4 and you put up a good counter argument to idk some kind of dumb claim. Like you might say "hey jungler you've ganked top 3 times and failed. Gank other lanes please". And then he/she will just be like 2/4 as in to mention your score. And then after you just be like "yeah I'm doing bad, so you should gank my lane" Then they'll be like "I'm not ganking your lane, you're useless". Then you say something like "ok then you're going to not be useful the whole game with that logic". The the other 2/3 of the premade will jump in and be like "Don't talk jhin, you're 2/4"

I hope this makes sense. I had to just make up some scenario.

There's actually a psychological foundation for this! People in general don't like to hear things that oppose their personal view and opinions, and, when they DO hear those things, they're much less likely to trust them from a stranger. Conversely, people LIKE to hear things that support their views and opinions, and they're much more likely to trust them from a friend than a stranger.

So the answer is, pretty much, that we're naturally predisposed to trust the people we already trust to tell us the truth, and we don't -- in general -- like having our opinions challenged. It's frustrating, frankly.

Herd mentality is deeply embedded in human conditioning.

ill back my buddy, then correct him off the game, like in discord. Buddies have each others back, thats what friends are for.

Because you are a random nothing to them, arguing about an inconsequential event or idea, and you will disappear forever after the game is done, whereas they will still be in the same chat and playing together again. So its like it doesnt really matter. Theyre dismissing you.

Because they feel disagreement with their buddies might risk their relationship, and buddies "looking out for each other" provides a sense of security and validation that naturally warps one's perception; that's how peer pressure works.

So when they are to choose between sabotaging their friends or some random they don't give a shit about (you), ofc they sabotage you.

see this stuff in duo Q all the time. no matter how bad the other player is doing or trolling. even going afk for 5 minutes... its ok because they are friends... its not ok and they should punish both parties.
