Do you guys say "gg" after every game?

No, I don't mean "gg ez". I literally mean "gg", as in "good game". Do you say it even when it's obvious the game was not a good one? If so, why the hell do you say gg?

IMO saying gg should not be the go-to sportsmanlike response to the end of a game. If the game was not well played and entertaining for the majority involved, how can it be called good? Maybe YOU enjoyed yourself, but what about the rest of the players? Can a game really be called a good one if only one player had fun? If you say gg only because of courtesy, all you're doing is patronizing the other team (and possibly your own). Since the game was not, in fact, good you have no cause to say gg.

The better thing to do would be to say something like "thanks for the game everyone!" This is a neutral statement that does not have the prerequisite condition of the game being good. All it you're doing is thanking the other players for spending their time on a mutually undertaken endeavor.

Some people may say "dude how butthurt can you be if you see gg as insulting". And to answer that, I don't see it as insulting; I see it as an incorrect representation of the game's events, and therefore totally uncalled for if the game was not played well. It's a common white lie that we all use in everyday social situations where we don't want to stir up unnecessary conflict. For example, if you're eating a meal at a friend's house and they overcooked the meatloaf, are you going to call them out on it, saying "wow, this meatloaf is horrible; wtf were you thinking?" Or perhaps you received an unwanted Christmas presant. You would never think to act outraged and disappointed in front of the gift giver. You would smile politely, thank them, and (when they're not around) quietly toss it in the trash, or re-gift it to someone else.

The same can be said of saying gg. Sure, you may say it out of habit, but do you really mean it? Was the game really good enough to merit saying gg? Maybe so, maybe not. I don't really care what gets said after a game. However, I would just like to point out how condescending it looks when one team completely stomps the other and has the nerve to claim "ggwp" afterwards.

Thoughts?

I hope you realize it's normal for most activities (sports) to say Good Game after the game. I did it when playing baseball as a kid and it was to show sportsmanship doesn't matter if the other team won by a landslide.

this is a tumblr-tier post of making a big deal out of something that no one cares about

I usually say it but not if the game was 4v5 or somehow unfair. Also if the enemy purposely fed and started trolling, it's not worthy of saying gg. Also I don't say it in stomp games since it's just bm.

I only say "gg wp" when it was a horrible game for my team, the enemy team then thinks I'm really sportsmanlike and will honor me, hopefully. Lmao

I only say wp, never gg anymore

I always write "GG WP" at the end and in the post-game chat out of respect. It should be used like a sportsmanship phrase. Writing "BG" is not something that should be encouraged as it is negative. Straighten up, strive to be a better being and spread some positivity.

I write "GG WP" when I win and when I lose - always! Even if I had trolls, flamers or AFKers on my team. There is no need to pout after a match, so just stop it. If you get offended by "GG WP" when you had a bad match or you feel that the match was unfair, you need to calm down and think about what it really means.

The term "GG WP" comes from shaking hands after a sports match, where one usually says "Good game", or even "Good game, well played!", but you seldom get to say the long version when you are shaking hands with a whole team, one by one in a rapid succession.

Maybe it's just because I used to play sports, but I always said "good game" after everything as common courtesy. It's like shaking hands after a game, it's just standard.
