Surrender system update

I despise surrender votes. I had perfectly winnable games surrendered by my team and my experience in league would be much better if every match, no matter how hopeless, was played to the very end.

But that was just flamewar material, let's go to the actual proposal.

  1. Remove current surrender vote system.
  2. Give every player a surrender switch(on/off).
  3. If 4(I'd prefer 5, obviously) players have it on, surrender the game.

Nobody should see how many votes there are. Nobody should see the other person's switch.

  • Surrender vote won't pop-up every 3 minutes distracting people like me from playing, including the risk on clicking on it by accident (and failing to use a skill, for example).
  • Impatient players won't need to wait 3 minutes if they failed a vote, lost a teamfight and their allies reconsidered.

Your proposal is missing some pretty crucial stuff. Specifically: When does the ability to Surrender kick in?

'Cause, as it stands, your proposal could potentially lead to four-man premades trolling individual players for not playing what they want them to play. All they'd need to do is flick the Surrender Switch, and just like that, before the match even kicks off, it's over.

Beyond that, your proposal looks like it would only exacerbate the problem you stated you have with the Surrender System at the beginning of your post.

I despise surrender votes. I had perfectly winnable games surrendered by my team and my experience in league would be much better if every match, no matter how hopeless, was played to the very end.

Right now, you're able to see whether or not the match is about to end prematurely. But, with your proposal, those matches would end way more abruptly, at the unspoken whim of four players who decide that the match is unwinnable. What would you do then, if after a teamfight you and one other player barely made it out of, when you're starting to push down a lane and take an inner turret...You lose character control, and the screen pans over to your Nexus?

IMO, it seems a little counterintuitive to provide zero information about who all's ready to Surrender. With that said, my vote on your poll is "no".

And instead of a surrender vote every 3 minutes you have someone spamming chat asking for the surrender.

The problem I see with this system is that someone who previously thought the game was unwinnable may change their mind, but forget to turn their switch off.

First, having a surrender toggle isn't too intuitive if it's sitting on screen all the time, because misclicks, even if rare, isn't acceptable.

Second, there's also a psychological factor to seeing the surrender toggle just there, vs having a voting call for it.

I do like your idea, but it needs lots of datas over lots of games to compare the two models. Something Riot will never do, they ignore quality of life for the better part of the game history, with ARAM QoL changes only coming in recently, which still doesn't address all issues ARAM have.
