Punishments for bad mouthing are too harsh!

Dear Riot and fellow summoners,

TL:DR version: Created this account ~2 months ago, behaved decently, lost it on one game, got a 15 day suspension.

Now i know, that BMing is a serious issue, specially in League of Legends, but i do think that adjustments could be made in the punishments for this offence. I got a 15 day suspension for negative attitude cause of one game, next punishment i will get is a permanent ban. So lets say i lose it again in a years time. My account is gone. A friend of mine got permanently suspended this way.

I would rather see chat restrictions than permanent suspensions for BMing. For example a system that gradually increases the time you get restricted from using the chat up to a permanent chat restriction. If someone is toxic enough to get a permanent chat ban, then by restricting them to use chat indefinitely immediately solves the problem without having to permanently ban them. Can't be toxic if you can't chat. Or there could be a player side way of disabling the chat all together seeing how it doesn't play a very important role in gameplay. This would help players who know they have issues with staying cool and not going on tilt. Save the game suspensions and permanent suspensions for more serious offences like griefing, intentional feeding, cheating, scripting, scamming etc. Just my thoughts.

Normally you do get chat restrictions.. but if you start using hate speech or encourage others to harm themselves, it will skip punishment tiers.

NO they aren't in fact they are not harsh enough and take to long to actually reach perma ban imo

You were probably very toxic to receive an instant 15 day ban,

If you cant act like a positive respectful civilized human being you don't deserve to be here.

If you cant control your emotional state especially during a video game and "lose it" on players you have no one to blame but your own self control and deserve to be banned

BMing isnt a serious issue. Just BMing takes a long long time to get you even chat restricted. If you got 15 days ban,it was for something extreme. Hate speech, death threats or stuff like that. Scripting, cheating... are already instant perma ban. Intentional feeding (dunno what u define as griefing) is 14 days into perma ban. Its already harsh enough. As for hate speech, its far worse than intentional feeding. Intentional feeder only aims to ruin game. Nothing else. He doesnt want to hurt anyone personally on religious ,national, sexual... basis. People who use hate speech are worst scum there is.

Not necessarily. It is entirely possible to lower your punishment tier by one if you go long enough and play enough games while showing improved behavior. The number of games played needed to do this is unknown because it's not a set amount. It will be different for each player because it's based on the player's behavior and how quickly they show reform.

As far as permanent chat restrictions go, Riot has already tried something similar to this in the form of infinitely scaling chat restrictions and it didn't work well at all. Players who racked up a high number of chat restricted games simply resorted to other forms of toxicity, like trolling and intentionally feeding, and these are significantly harder to detect and punish effectively. This not working is a large part in why Riot implemented the system we have now.

Players get 3 chances to change their behavior (less if they skip tiers for extreme behavior) before receiving a permanent ban. Those who don't change after being given these chances show that they pretty much have no intention of changing their behavior, and adding one more step before a permanent ban isn't going to change that.
