Received a 10 games chat-restricted penalty because I say "Open Mid"

Abstract :

I played a game in normal and our jungler dc'ed / afk before the 3 minute mark. Top was 0/10 and bot was 0/6. I said "Open mid" because... that's what you do before 15 min, you know. Our mid was angry and started flaming me because he was 10/2. Riot judged that my comms were toxic, meanwhile, I didn't insult anybody, I just accepted my fate and was eager to move to the next game. I received a 10 game chat-restricted penalty.

The question is : Is chat even worth having at this point

[Me] The Xerath game you are referring to was a game I received an honor for... Everyone agreed to open mid considering the fact that we had an afk player, everyone except Ekko, whom reported me because HE judge I was toxic, regardless of the fact that the 15 ff vote was 3 vs 1. You realize that I never critic his ability to play, his skill level or insult him in any shape or form right? The guy was a good player, he was just a stubborn player with an ego.

Now explain to me how it is possible to punish me, regardless of the fact that I received an honor for my action? I honestly fail to understand your logic here.

I understand the "We discourage you to give up" part, but in real life, playing by your rule encourage people to soft int just to end the game quicker if the ff vote doesn't pass. I witness this behavior countless time. Is that the kind of players you want to have in your game? Non-toxic players who give up without saying a word, which result in tilting other players even more?

Again Riot, this makes no sense.

[Riot employee] I get this is frustrating and I don't blame you for feeling this way. Unfortunately, the behavior that you were showing in your game was evidence of misusing our Chat feature. We want chat to just be used to help coordinate with your teammates and help win the game, not bring others down. So when we see evidence that would show misuse of chat like this in that game, we have to penalize the account to let them know that this isn't something we want in our game.

Again, I'm sorry but this penalty has to stay because of your negative behavior shown in those logs. Let me know if you have any other questions unrelated to your suspension, otherwise, I'll have to look into closing this ticket out.

Opening mid, being a form of trolling, should earn a 14 day ban.

Using chat to encourage others to break the rules is also against the rules and punishable.

Deserved. There is no open mid. Either your team forfeits or you keep playing to win.

You cant get banned/restricted for just saying “open” even if you’re right For calling a troll out, riot will still punish you for acting out in chat.

Next time turn off your brain while waiting it out. Riot cant ban players for playing bad (unless they’re running it down mid stupidly) and you are not obligated to play your best after someone afks or trolls.

Even pros sit in fountain or play recklessly when they’re being 100% trolled. Reddit tried to lynch jackielove for that last month but surprise surprise, the esports management dont give a shit because A. He was 100% being trolled and B. He doesn’t make it a habit.

Honestly dumb expecting people to stay commited to a game that’s being ruined by someone.

don't say open mid this is a form of you wanting the game to end (griefing), even if you want to give up you could have just as easily left the game instead of "opening mid" or you could have actually tried even if its a 4v5, give yourself permission for failure, its what holds us back, im not good at the game but even if you fail you will learn something from that game if you try to, don't give up its not fun for your team mates nor is it fun for the enemies

I feel ya. Unfortunately, you pissed off someone who wanted the chance to try and comeback. People lose LP regardless if you FF or lose clean. This guy wanted to keep playing and you ruined his game, so in the eyes of Riot, you are wrong. I would agree with you and say that guy is a bum for dragging out your game if opening mid is common practice, but Riot does not allow open mid, its kind of a higher elo commone practice under the table so you have to keep it on the low.
