Why league and its community are anti gaming

For so long Ive seen people try and hop onto Riot's ideology of what a "just summoner" looks like. But in reality when we look at things we realize that league of legends is only a video game. Nothing more. Nothing less. The reason league of legends as a game is incredibly infuriating is because league goes against the ideology of what a video game is supposed to be. Its supposed to be a consumer product.

Video games were built to be something pleasing to the consumer. The gamer is supposed to be the one benefiting from the product. When we play super smash brawl, halo, call of duty, mario kart, etc. we play because we the players get something out of it. This sense that we have consumed something. This sense of entertainment. This sense of I've escaped. This sense of I can relate to the game developer etc etc. It gives you this sense of I can relax and unwind. I dont gotta be tense from a hard days work. But when we play league we log on and are forced into a summoner's code that denies the rights of the individual so that the community can survive. So that the community can be happy about how the individual is behaving. But in reality when we play video games we dont get satisfaction and happiness when others are doing just things. We get happy when WE ARE DOING WELL.

We dont give a shit about anybody else. The individual is the one who makes the game great. No one cares about each other. We just want ourselves to have a great time. Saying that we need to be called to a "higher standard" of gaming of when we game doesnt make me or anybody else a better player or improve our experience.. It only tilts and infuriates us because we know deep in our hearts we dont give a shit about anyone else other than our own performance.

Games flourish and explode when the individual is happy. Instead... we have a game that is continually causing us to get closer and closer to our teammates. We are forced to work together. A game where skill and individual play matters less and less. You could say that league is a "team game" but a "game" by definition is supposed to be a form of play. Nobody enjoys play time when you are forced to give up what you enjoy so that everybody can be happy about you and vice versa.

This is where the sports fucknuts will come in with their idealogy of "its a team game" "its a sport" "Go play another game" But I can tell you that if you were to poll the vast majority of players. I can absolutely "garen"tee you that nobody plays league so they can grow closer to their teammates or even do anything "team" related. The only times when we actually get this feeling of happiness is when we the players feel empowered. This only happens when we get that big "individual play" That big gnar ult. That big malphite ult. etc etc. That zed outplay That leblanc deathfire grasp solo kill on full tank sion XD All of these things were possible because individuals were empowered. Nobody is happy when we work together as a team and are forced to give of ourselves when in gaming we are supposed to be consuming. Come with me and lets protest that riot bring back the rights of the individual and have them rewrite their twisted summoner's code ideology.

TL:DR:

“I want to be a dick, but Riot won’t let me! They should remove the rule so that I can act like a jerk!”

And to answer your question, I wholeheartedly oppose anything even similar to your suggestion.

All I read is that you hate team games.

Block of text. You may want to consider breaking it up.

Now, I enjoy the game a lot. Whether I am winning or losing, I can still have fun. Yes it is always better to be on the winning side, but that can be said about any of the other games you mentioned, presumably you are talking about the multiplayer.

As far as bonding with team members and stuff, you are probably right as far as solo que goes. That is simply throwing together a rag tag group. However, if you have a team you regularly play with, it can be a bonding experience. Might see more of it with this new "Clash" mode.

This giving ourselves to the game, once again; in my opinion, can be said about any of the multiplayer games you named. That sick outplay, the knife kill from the opposite side of the map, the 3 v 1 clutch defuse. You know what they have in common, the level the player wishes to play on. The professional mindset players will enjoy giving themselves to a game they enjoy playing, while someone who might be more casual won't.

Also, we aren't forced to play in any specific manner. As a community we have kind of established a meta. However, no one is required to play that meta. Want to play attack speed Donger? That is your choice. Your team may not agree, but you can do it and cannot be banned for off meta.

I'm confused. Why do you need to be able to be a jerk to have fun?

Dude... you're so delusional. Riot makes the game so we as players are empowered. You say they dont. But they do. Thats why they ban toxic players etc. To keep the bad out.

to me playing a "teamgame" with 4 random ppl who most likely wont give a fuck about me anyways is really hard. i love to watch lcs BECAUSE of the teamplay aspect. but i myself dont play lol serious anymore. as a matter of fact i have my own little troll account and just seeing ppl in low elo rage and cry because i outplay them in every way possible, but not winning the game for them makes my day. and when i get that popup about them being punished, it makes my entire fucking week.

I mean competitive league can definitely be considered a team sport (like lcs and stuff), but league itself will never be a team sport to me. I play team sports in order to compete not to win. I used to always have fun playing sports as a kid whether I was winning or losing. Sure, I wanted to win, because I was competitive, but in the end I just enjoyed playing. League isn't like that for a lot of the players on here. They aren't having fun unless they are winning or gaining elo, and that's just not how sports should feel. You should enjoy the challenge of being tested or playing a good opponent, not climbing a ladder. (Just my two cents on this matter)
