Riot are creating a Nanny State for League
So I was banned back in March and I haven't played the game since, but I've been doing some thinking while I've been away. I'll start with why I was banned (and why I think it's incorrect).
I recieved my 2-week ban a month before I was perma banned and I accept that I deserve that because I straight up said "Kys you fucking n***er". I accepted my 2 week punishment for that because that was toxic.
A month later I finished a ranked game only to recieve a popup that said my account had been permanently banned. I contact Riot support and they told me there was no mistake and that my account was gone for good.
I went back and read over all my logs and after being flamed and trolled for a full 25 minutes, my only slightly negative comment was "You're the most braindead Rengar I have seen in my life". For context, I spent the first 15 minutes defending this Rengar from our toxic top and mid who were non-stop shouting at him.
I asked Riot again why I was banned and was told something to the tune of "The chat is only there for positive communication. And we are trying to remove all negativity from the game."
I asked "So are you going to ignore the 70+ games I played prior to this where I wasn't toxic and ban me over one bad game where I was more or less the innocent party" to which they responded "Yes".
Are Riot creating "safe space" game where the moment you say anything slightly negative you risk getting punished? (Chat ban, 2-week or perma ban).
I really don't think calling someone braindead should result in a ban, and as the game is highly competitive tensions can run high and sometimes people say stupid things, and as long as people don't say things like I did to recieve my 2 week ban, I don't see a huge issue with it.
