🔒 Grade System needs a serious rework.

We've all been there, playing our best in a match, and we've felt like we've done everything right, and we did all we could have done, and you get so excited after winning and you look at your grade, and it's an A/A+... (basically anything but an S)

This infuriates me when trying to mastery on a champion or just trying to get what I deserve. You can ward, kill all the dragons, take the most turrets, do the most damage, have the most kills and do everything seemingly perfectly, but still get less than you deserve. I think it's time for Riot to look deep on what really does and doesn't matter when evaluating a grade score. I think that grades should be way more role specific. i.e. if you're a jungler, and you get every dragon, rift herald, and baron, and still execute ganks, you should be more rewarded, and less if you don't focus on those things. Other roles can be pretty obvious too.

I think it's something Riot really needs to look into. Even though it might seem silly to worry about grades, it's a good way of League giving us feedback, but I think I speak for most players when I say I think it still needs some fine tuning.

If you didn't get an S... maybe you don't deserve an S.

You mention everything except cs. I bet your CS is holding you back.

It's supposed to be hard to get an S. A+ is the highest "real" grade, after all; S is off the normal grading curve and denotes something superlative and special. You can't just expect to be gifted an S for doing generally well.

And I hope Riot doesn't give us specifics on the grading scale. Last thing I want is for somebody to play at odds with the interest of the team in order to achieve a high grade. Can you imagine how frustrating it would be if your fed carry refused to help end the game because they want more CS in order to get an S? That would be miserable.

I'm not saying it should be made simpler, I'm saying the things they look at to determine an S should be looked at more. I'm not just some butthurt guy complaining about why I never get S's lol.

Hey Rambo, this isn't the correct board for this post so I'm going to lock it. The appropriate place for discussion like this that concern the Mastery Grading system would be Gameplay, so please feel free to repost over there to continue the discussion.

An S is something you earn, not something you're entitled to. I like that they're not something you see happen in every game, and I think they should stay that way. An S grade means your performance that game was exceptional when compared to every other player using that champ in that role. That shouldn't be a simple task.

The problem is you don't always "earn" an S by doing whatever it takes to win. And often you earn one by doing the opposite of what it takes to win. Often times, when I'm the initiator, the way to win results in me dying far too much to get an S. Do I engage and go in and die and the team end up with a 4 for 1? Or do I hold back and we possibly lose the fight because of it but I get out unscathed? I'm on 6 items. Do I harvest more minions for brownie S points or do I give them over so someone else on the team can get to 6 items? Do I go team fight when the team needs me or do I just sit in a side lane and farm farm farm away and then take jungle camps for more farm for that S, not even bothering with a genuine split push? All too often, what is required for an S requires one to do the wrong thing regarding winning the game. Other times an S results from smurfs playing below their true level.

An S only sometimes is about a genuinely exceptional performance and often times results from gaming the system or purposely not doing the right thing as far as winning the game.
