Do you guys care if a teammate talks in chat and try to be positive?

As a support main I do this a lot, but usually don't get any responses. I'm assuming it's because they're busy CSing, but I'm curious whether this just annoys people or actually helps people play.

(that and letting people know about important cooldowns, but I'm low elo so people don't really seem to care about that)

As a rule I just report anyone who uses the chat at all. I can count on one hand the number of times that chat wasn't used for flaming or raging at people.

Rather have someone vocal positive on my team than someone silently backstabbing the team.

I do care and appreciate the positivity. Idk why but most games where people were pleasant in chat that I remember, were good games. I don't get a negative feeling in my gut when I think about them, just a good feeling all around. Don't even remember if they were wins or losses. Most games where people were assholes and flaming in chat, when I think about them I feel annoyed and most of them were losses. So ya why not? I mean as long as you're not standing idle in lane cuz you're busy typing, I don't see why anyone would prefer a negative or neutral teammate over a positive one. Some people get uncomfortable with comradery though so maybe those people with childhood baggage don't like it.

There are some people who somehow get pissy at positive people, but those are the kind that will get pissy anyway, the moment anything doesn't go according to plan so I wouldn't adjust your positive spirit for these people.

One thing as a warning: Gallows humour (which can be a very positive thing) in plain text reads the same way as passive agressive sarcasm. It's the reason I stopped doing that, unless I notice I'm really in tune with my team and I trust they understand it. Actually got a warning popup once after saying something along the lines of "Well, at least we got one of them :D" after a horrible horrible towerdive that got us aced.

I would rather you just play, typing outside of walking to lane early in the game is counterproductive to gaining a lead

Personaly I don't care if somebody is toxic or nice, it's nice but means Nothing, Doesn't help doesn't hurt I think.

I don't see why being friendly could possibly be a bad thing. Conversation may not be good because it is potentially taking away from your or your teammates ability to react. Calling out cooldowns is good, but as you said low elo typically doesn't care because they don't really know what to do with that information.

But along the same lines, lower elo tends to take chat as an opportunity to flame, so even if your intention is to invite friendly conversation, the chances of you unintentionally inviting an unfriendly one is greater.
