Why was i chat restricted? (Any Opinion Welcome)

Chat restricted for 24 games for responding to a troll? This player made threats to my life and used every diss he could think of to get me tilted. Including toxic comments about Americans and dying in ww3, accusing all Americans of being drug addicts, all Americans being fat, all Americans being dumb, hoping China drops a bomb on me, etc. I wasn't nice to the troll but i could have responded way worse. So basically Riot is telling players that if someone is threatening you and you respond will be chat restricted? Really confused by this move on Riots part. If anyone has advice or another opinion please let me know.

You really aren't in a position to be threatened most the time.

There are only a few ways they threaten you. Physical threats like "I'll come to your house and beat you up" or threats to your digital account like "I will report you and you will get banned".

I wouldn't worry too much about the physical threats as most people won't execute what they say, but if you do truely fear for your life, please contact your local authorities.

The digital threat is just an empty threat if you didn't do anything wrong. All a report does is to flag the system to review the reported player, and it will return a toxicity score (0 for no toxicity found, 100 for severe toxicity found). When a player passes a certain accumulated toxicity score, they will get punished by the system. So if you didn't do anything wrong, then their threats mean nothing.

In both cases you can report them for harassment. But remember, the key is to not give any reason for their reports to be true against you. When you also call for reports (remember, it's a digital threat) or you accuse other's of inting/trolling, you are also harassing others and it will count towards your total toxicity score.

That's because Riot chat restriction is made for very young and sensitive kids who will say (and i quote):

Calling someone a troll, even if they are is considered harassment. Calling someone else toxic is also considered harassment.

So my suggestion is, when someone is legit trolling in your game, mute chat, and very slightly int because there's no way in hell you'll get banned or punished for that, even if you make it obvious, just type : "Sorry guys! net problems" and keep soft inting. I mean, at least you're not calling people dumb or troll in chat, thank god - that would ruin the player's experience

Love how you can only ever post your side of the chat it never posts all the chat for context just what you said so people can be like "your fault for typing"

Talking about a punishment for another user in game chat or post chat is considered a big no-no as well. More to the reason of my first statement, mute, play, report, move on.

This all is passive aggressive and you are now instigating an argument here.

Overall, Draven sounds like a piece of work, and if I were in the same position and didn't mute, I'd wanna toy with him too, honestly. However, the punishment here fits. When you're punished they review only your actions, nothing anyone else says or did matters in a review of you. At least its just a chat restriction and not a suspension or a permaban. Next time, at the first sign of a toxic or annoyed player, mute them and keep playing.

I wont give you an opinion, ill just answer your question as to why you were chat restricted. It is against the rules to call people dumb and accuse them of inting and call for reports. There are no stipulations in the rules that ever allow you to break said rules. So it doesnt matter if they were inting or not. Use the report system to bring justice, not chat.

That's why you got a second chat restriction. Either cut it out and start behaving yourself according to the rules you agreed to when you made your account or you'll eventually get a 14-day suspension. The punishment after a 14-day suspension is a permaban.

I think the system is just broken. So we either not play this game anymore, or just don't use the chat anymore xD
