Was your account banned for 3rd Party Programs? Please Read!!

Botting, Modding, Scripting, and other forms of cheating or exploiting are certainly problems that we sometimes see in League of Legends, and Riot takes the necessary steps to making sure that people who are guilty of these offenses are dealt with. It is not usually something done immediately so that the people who make these programs are unable to figure out how their software was detected and learn how to avoid detection, and so Riot will generally deliver large waves of bans for this offense. Unfortunately, sometimes people who are innocent get caught up in the ban wave and proper steps need to be taken in order to correct any mistakes.

Over the last few days, an increasing number of players have been posting threads here about how they were suddenly permabanned for using third party software or using exploits. However, it seems a large majority of these players are suggesting that they never installed any program that would change or affect LoL and they have no idea why they are getting punished.

If you fall into this category, then you need to start by opening a ticket with Riot Games Support: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/requests/new

Let the support staff know what's going on and submit your ticket. Give it a while because the support staff has to deal with a very large volume of tickets on a daily basis, and there may be a lot of people ahead of you. I know it's frustrating, but you need to wait patiently for a response. Sending multiple tickets or adding more discussion to your original ticket may increase your waiting time. This is not going to get fixed immediately, so be patient while you go through the motions.

When you first get a response from the support staff, it is more than likely going to be a pre-typed template. This is again because of the extremely high volume of tickets that the support team has to go through on a daily basis, and 90% or more of them can be answered with a simple template. At this point, you will need to reiterate your case and let the support agent know that you never installed any third party program and want to dispute the actions being taken against your account. Riot will need to do a manual review, and if they find that you indeed did nothing wrong then they will undo the ban on your account. However, it may take a few replies before a manual review will be conducted. Continue to be patient and persistent as you go through this process.

Now then, if you received notification that your account was permanently banned for using third party software or using exploits and you actually did these things... Well then you're just going to have to own it. We all accepted Riot's Terms of Service Agreement before playing, and it very clearly lets us know that the following is a punishable offense:

Using any unauthorized third party programs, including mods, hacks, cheats, scripts, bots, trainers and automation programs that interact with the Software in any way, for any purpose, including any unauthorized third party programs that intercept, emulate, or redirect any communication between the Software and Riot Games and any unauthorized third party programs that collect information about the Game by reading areas of memory used by the Software to store information;

So then, if you're guilty of any of this, Riot will not be able to reverse the decision made against your account. This is also a good reminder for any of us reading this that if we are using any kind of application with LoL that is against the rules then we are also subject to being permabanned for it. The best thing to do is uninstall the software now, or if you are using anything to modify the client or game in any way then restore the original files.

For those who have been mistakenly included in this wave of bans, I wish you the best of luck in resolving the issue with Riot and getting your account back. Good luck! [slayer-jinx-catface]

Just got through my first round of the runabout. No luck I'm afraid. About to submit another ticket since with this one they are "Considering the matter closed" but I'm not giving up yet.

Just wanted to post an update. After talking with Riot for a full day now all i have been able to get is automated messages. They will not perform a manual review or think about overturning the ban. In the final message they gave me a pre-typed message saying they will be "closing this out" without answering any of my questions or treating me like a human. Do I keep responding to reach a real person and get a manual review or do i need to try another approach?

Not be able to. Untrue. They are very much able to.

The correct phrase would be unwilling to, or against their policy.

Downvoting. We don't need more false information on the internet.

Got an unwarranted ban email yesterday afternoon. I'm 2 replies into my ticket and waiting for the next. Still basically auto replies so far. Will keep trying. Keep hope alive!

This post, while probably well-intended, is just incorrect.

Account got cracked, Riot admitted it, unbanned the account, then banned it again for the same reason. Told me that it wouldn't be reversed and so I took my grievance to my bank when I found that Riot would not budge. I was able to get back the money I had spent over the previous year or so (mind you this was way back almost three years ago now). I filed it as fraud with my bank, they agreed with me as I have been a good customer with good standing for twenty years or so.

Riot Games has a grade of "F" with the Better Business Bureau. With good reason, they have no phone number publicly listed where they may be contacted for customer issues, they have an automated support system and are unwilling to show any evidence of wrong doing and, in fact, even when they make a mistake and admit it to you, they still won't unban your account. Now, don't get me wrong, the game itself is great... just about everything sorrouding it is garbage, period.

To those of you that were banned for third party programs and DIDN'T use them and know you didn't, they won't lift your ban, but if you recently purchased RP, just go ahead and contact your bank, let them know the situation, explain to them that the company took your money, didn't give you the product or service for payment and---so long as you are a decent customer with your bank---you'll get your money back.

Thank you very much for making a thread dedicated to this issue. As someone who has been affected by these false bans you have been very helpful. I want to add that as of now Riot has sent me three pre-typed templates as responses. I will update if and when they actually conduct the manual report i have asked them to do.

it doesnt matter they dont care i had my account for three years and they keep saying they checked and they found 3rd party software, if i cheated why the fuck would i still be bronze 3, they fucking ripped me off the i have twitch and discord if that counts as a thirdparty software. why would i spend hundreds of dollars on a account that could possibly get banned. riot is full of shit and i wont spend another fucking dime on this game.

I am in the same boat now, 2 years later. Someone else?

On the 6/02/19 I was banned for ostensibly using 3rd party bots to lvl up my account. I'm a noob who's only been playing this game for 4 and a half days. I'm not joking after seeing a pretty cool animated Youtube advertisment for League of Legends I thought it's about time to try it. 4 and a half days later, I played it all Sunday through to Monday night I liked it that much, I was permanently banned.

I'm still experiencing that initial addictive happy feeling when you find a really good new game, hence why I'm here I guess. Anyway, I have the technological proficiency of a dinosaur, I don't know how to open command nevertheless a script file. I reallly didn't use any bots of any kind. I don't open any other programs other than lol, and I even turn off my phone to increase banwidth to my laptop. I actually felt devastated when I was suddenly permanently banned, and I can't imagine how other members here felt when their accounts of 3 years or plus were suddenly banned.

I'm sure they're probably thinking oh you just played 4 days just make a new account, but that's not the point. What if my new account gets permanently banned for doing nothing? What if I get a new account and then I have no problems and then 10 days later that one is permanently banned? How can I recommend this to any of my friends. The same anonymity over what triggered my unexplained bann gives me no confidence in any future account. I'm also angry with the email they sent me, if an 'extensive investigation' was carried out to determine that I've been levelling up with bots then they would know I played manually every single game. I think the manual review should preface the permanent ban, opposed to this automatic banning followed by attempts at a manual review that keep being denied.

Just thought I'd add, have made a ticket and it's been a day and it hasn't been seen or assigned to an agent, and I feel genuine animosity to this game.

I gotta wonder if it's an AV reading the files or something, when the y access the internet. Some kind of Norton or Avast update or something for a specific kind of computer/OS.

Just fyi, a large majority of that large majority of players who were "wrongfully banned" are actual scripters who get together and spam the ticket requests, it's sad and it screws over people who actually were wrongfully banned, but that's what happens.

I just got banned for the same reason... I started this account back in season 3, I have never used any hacks or scripts. The only thing I use while playing League is Discord, is this not a 3rd party program approved by Riot? I would understand if I got banned for toxicity, but this is not something I have ever done... I don't understand why they would do this...

I was wrongfully banned this past Saturday morning. I played a ranked game around 2AM Saturday, lost, logged off and went to bed. When I woke up, I attempted to log in to find that I have been permabanned. I have never used any 3rd party software to gain advantage in LoL or any game. I've opened several tickets with support, mostly only get template responses, but I'm going to keep trying, as I know this was a mistake on their part. I do not allow other people to access my account and it's on a PC so I don't have it hooked up to suspicious wifi. It seems there was a wave of bans 5 months ago. Has anyone else had this happen recently?
