RULES AND REPORTS

Hi everyone, im taking some time today to post on a topic that AFFECTS EVERYONE WHO PLAYS THE GAME

so i was in a game where a guy playing aatrox(who called bot after adc called adc) was flamed and probably reported for going bot lane and ''not playing according to role calls in pregame lobby'' because he farmed cs and when confronted about it said: i dont play by your made up rules

so i tought who is right here? the guy or the people flaming because yes everyone plays by those '' additional rules'' most people know and abide by but are not OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED OR POSTED BY RIOT

so could it be possible to have better knowledge of what we can and cannot do in game before a punishment hits us? As a player having to play in constant fear of losing honors or getting a ban when u have no control over the inflow (or knowledge of) of reports ur getting while trying to play your way

this is imo a very big issue and since integration of honors it should be worked on a bit because penalties can really hurt veteran players who only have one account when most of the times if they got punished its due to pressure or hate from the community and those who really ruin peoples games will only do another account n move on while you lose all your hard work(or play in fear of losing it) and can't event put out an argument or put a little brat in it's place when hes aggressive with everyone

SO what do you guys think should be done SO WE IMPROVE HOW THE RULES AND REPORT SYSTEM WORK TOGETHER?

imo first we need(all that OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED AND ENFORCED BY RIOT): a list of words that will get you banned

a better definition of actions in game that will get you punished ex: INTING is too vague... giving kill to the enemy by running into their towers and not fighting or trying to get kills= INTING now you know what it is DONT' DO IT!( in game nobody ever tell you how your doing wrong things, they jus tell you your doing them!)

feedback from the person who got reported: if a valid report hits u riot will send a request for you to explain what you think hapenned for you to get a valid report flag you(imo this will mostly be for afkers and maybe inting/griefing) if the feedback from the player is ignored or contains obvious lies well they will keep valid report but if the guy has a good reason well a rioter wont punish him unfairly(LESS AUTOMATED PUNISHMENT, ONLY AUTO REVIEWS)

sry for the long post(for some people) pls share your ideas and anything i may have missed ;p

tl:dr serious issue: the rules and report system need to be better defined to work well togheter, what are your thoughs and ideas?

There are no picking rules in blind pick. Following call order is just common courtesy and no one will ever be punished for not following call order.

My only gripe is that they don't say what is zero tolerance. It is not mentioned anywhere in the ToS of what things you can't say that are zero tolerance.

A standard punishment for chat toxicity is a chat restriction, but saying any zero tolerance words is a 14 day ban. So It is important to note what is zero tolerance so players won't get banned for chat.

It all boils down to "don't be a jerk"-in other words don't do or say things that you know will just tick other people off. Also, Riot will never release a list of taboo words because then people would just skirt around them like they always do. For example, say the word "crazy" was banned. Okay then now I could just say something like "3razy" or "cra2y" or even "crzy" and get around it easily. See the issue there? I hope so.

As for your other request:

feedback from the person who got reported: if a valid report hits u riot will send a request for you to explain what you think hapenned for you to get a valid report flag you(imo this will mostly be for afkers and maybe inting/griefing) if the feedback from the player is ignored or contains obvious lies well they will keep valid report but if the guy has a good reason well a rioter wont punish him unfairly(LESS AUTOMATED PUNISHMENT, ONLY AUTO REVIEWS)

What's there to explain? No one forced them to type what they typed or int or grief: that was a choice that they made consciously themselves. Also, there are hundreds if not thousands of reports filed a day, something that manual reviews just can't keep up with. How do I know this for a fact? Because Riot essentially tried that with The Tribunal, and while it was helpful in weeding out the toxics from the innocents it was also very slow and unreliable, with cases often being from months prior, which by that point the defendant has already most likely forgotten about them. Sure manual cases are still done today, but only in very specific circumstances such as edge cases for example there.

So overall while I understand you desire to help improve the IFS, the ideas you've proposed here just aren't gonna work like you hoped they would, sorry.

Role calling is not enforceable, where they are not assigned. It comes down to everyone must agree on roles & lanes. Disagreement happen.

They are not "additional rules". At best, they are courtesy, but ones which unfairly tip in the favor of those with faster internet connections and faster computers. It is not something that will be punihsed.

I get why its vague. Being a jerk is subjective. Ive never had any problems with it, but i can understand people who had much different upbringings having different expectations, views, and opinions on these things. Their normal is my rude, you know? So yeah, it could help to be a bit more specific, but then you get people who take it SO LITERALLY that anything that is not mentioned, must mean its okay. So Riot comes up with a thousand words or phrases that arent okay... well people are just gonna distort those phrases or words slightly and then argue "it says you cant say xyz, but i only said xy". I do wish they would at least state the obvious things, and then have a very bold, attention-attracting disclaimer that this list isnt the ONLY things that can get you banned, but merely serve as a standard. It wouldnt fix anything completely, but it would definitely be better than just simply saying "dont be a jerk!" Why not just add some more specific scenarios and guidelines? It doesnt have to be perfect, but it would be better than what we have.

The only thing for me is, I feel like 99.9% of people are just being stubborn and difficult in the name of defending their actions. Deep down they know they did wrong, but they will never admit it. And that will continue to happen regardless how specific the rules are laid out for you. So why not just make it a bit more specific to help the truly clueless? It wouldnt make it worse, thats for sure.
