I've played league on and off for 7 years, and I'm not sure if the match making has gotten worse, but every ranked game i get into has the most TOXIC, Relentlesss, Trolls I have ever seen. This game literally creates the worst people and doesn't do enough for their regulation. It used to be occasional, but now it's literally 95 out of 100 games. Riot needs to do something permanent in their matchmaking. These are my thoughts. (And Facts.)
It is most certainly not literally 95% of games. It is what you make it. I don't hold it against people and write them off as toxic douchenozzles for making a comment or two in a game. That's going to happen, and for the most part people aren't incredibly nasty and sometimes just spout off a line or two out of frustration.
I only encounter flaming ragebabies probably 5% of the time. Again, it is what you make it. Guaranteed if you're encountering it with such freqeuncy, then it's time to realize what all of your games have in common - you. Are you engaging with people who make unnecessary comments? Are you focusing on others instead of yourself? Are you the one constantly commenting on what others are doing and pointing out their mistakes?

By the way, competitive games always bring those players out, it's nothing new. Toxicity is prevalent in gaming community since the birth of tournaments and competitions, hell, even before that people were being assholes when it came to facing off against each other.
Internet games only helped to propagate that behaviour, because nothing really bad will happen to those that take away fun from games. At worst they will get banned, and most can live with it, since it's not a real world.
That's not really true. Rito just cycles the toxic players into the new one, creating new players that take up their behavior patterns. Over years it just ruins things when it comes to overmarketed bullshit forcing LARPers to fuck up low elo ranked ladder.
That and idiot high elo smurfs dick waving in lower elos like TRASHblue3
