Consequences in Ranked

Hey all,

I've been reading through a lot of posts lately, and as a 5+ year player, I'd have to say that I (sadly) agree with what seems to be an underlying theme throughout many of them: the majority of the problem in this game is Riot's tolerance of bad behaviors and nit-picking of others. Telling someone to "shut up and play," can get you banned, while someone queuing as jungle and just hard-trolling one lane all game or intentionally throwing it will not. Specific examples, but just speaking generally. Similarly, I'd say most of my losses in the past few weeks (if not months,) literally have been from people dying twice, saying "f*ck this" and then quitting. Or, just showing up in lane, standing behind tower for 3 minutes, and then disconnecting, never to be seen again.

Sometimes, real life happens. I get that. But I think you'll all agree that this isn't that. I also get that some people intentionally lose to prevent ranking up, but...that really just hurts everyone else on the team who isn't trying to do that. (And let's be honest: if you're TRYING to lose to prevent ranking up, just so you can stay in a lower elo and beat up on people who aren't as skilled, what does that really say about you?)

Frankly, I think they--Riot--need to be much more severe with their banning practices, at least in ranked. For instance, if a player demonstrably, intentionally throws a ranked game, the first occurrence should be 1-week ban. Second occurrence: 1 month. Third occurrence: season ban. Intentional infractions on accounts: ISP ban. Probably a bit harsh, but it needs to be clearly demonstrated that wasting others' time and ruining their fun is not acceptable.

I know many people that still love to play this game, but because life gets in the way, they don't have nearly the kind of time they used to. Still, everyone's time is precious. Thus, wasting their time in losing games where someone left the team 4v5, is afk farming, or is just hard-trolling to intentionally throw games needs to be taken much more seriously.

Just my long-winded thoughts. Thanks for reading.

INTENTIONALLY throwing a game already follows the following even stricter punishment path when confirmed:

  1. 14-day ban.
  2. Permanent ban.

The only catch is that the system needs to be confident that this is intentional, rather than just a bad game or a player having a different idea of what the best course of action is than the rest of the team.

This is why I hate when people say it's just normals, it's just a game. Normally that's true, but it doesn't mean it's alright to waste another person's time by purposely throwing or trolling and not trying to win the game. I don't give a shit if it's blind, draft, aram. If I am forced to play a game and try to win, I want others to try too. They don't have to be perfect and on point, but at least have the intent on winning and that they tried their best.

Problem is its basicly impossible to generally define intentional throwing. You might think something is not a good idea, other players might think it is.

harder to determine who is trolling and who is having a bad game

Griefing is already a 14 day ban. I would be fine if that was stricter i suppose. Just permaban them.

EDIT: Just realized what youre asking for is actually less strict than what we already have lol.

But Riot believes in second chances, so I guess youre allowed to come back in 2 weeks if you do that. I think what you may actually have a problem with, but failed to communicate it, is their failure at successfully identifying trolling behaviors. This is understandable, but some dont want to understand it. They just want things to be perfect and dont care to understand how difficult it is to detect these things without falsely banning innocent players who suck at the game.
