Need Some Tips

Hello, all.

I just played a match with two players. During champ-select, I told them I only played mid and supp, which were both taken. Usually people are nice and change. That wasn't the case here. So I decided to go duo top with my boyfriend. Throughout the entire match, they proceeded to bully me (call me a bitch, ho, say I was inting, repeatedly say I was getting reported). I could deal with that. I told the /all chat I had had a bad day and these players were making it worse. They then said that my playing was making them want to "kms". I know what that stands for, and I hate it since my grandfather committed suicide two years ago. I told them this only because I am triggered by it. They then told me my grandfather killed himself because of me. I know this isn't true, but I draw the line there. When two players bully me an entire game and then make me bawl, I don't think they should be allowed in the community any longer. On top of this, they reported me (for what, I don't know), and now I have a 14-day suspension that I personally think is way out of line since they bullied me so hard...

I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on what to do to not get banned? I didn't use any trigger words, and have no idea why Riot thinks their report is valid considering they were using words like bitch and ho to describe me and also told me my grandfather killed himself because of me.

This is seriously making me debate quitting altogether, which I don't want...

Is it possible for them to remove my ban if they see their report is invalid?

Thanks...

A few things come to mind.

  1. Never engage with toxic players. You're not going to effectively have a conversation with them, and you only stand to escalate the situation. Ignore them, and mute them if you have to. I winced when I read that you mentioned your grandfather's suicide to them, because that's just giving them ammunition to press your buttons even more.

1a) NEVER re-state what toxic players say to you. I suspect, without having seen your logs, that this is why the system flagged you. If you said "please don't tell me to kys" or similar, the system sees you as using zero-tolerance words or phrases. Good news is that a support ticket explaining the situation might get your ban overturned.

  1. Either have a passing ability to play more roles, or be prepared and willing to dodge. I personally play 99% of my games as top or support, so I understand that stepping out of the comfort zone can be a real pain, but I have recently made sure that I have at least a couple champs that I can take to ADC or mid and not feed my ass off with. I'm screwed if I get stuck jungling, but at that point I'll dodge. Better to wait 5 minutes than force something like duo-top, which is just not healthy for team cohesion.

  2. I honestly hate to suggest this, because it feels like victim blaming, but consider a name change. The gaming community as a whole is not kind to women. If you switch to a gender-neutral name, you won't encounter the knee-jerk 4chan-style sexism nearly as much.

Good luck.

Pretty much everything Joo mentioned. But no, you will not be banned as long you don't do anything consistently or use any severity that'd trigger the ban penalty.

The thing is, you should never, ever, engage with any negativity or toxic behavior. Due to the fact it's a trap and distracting. So as long you don't do anything like afk'n, intentionally feeding (As in purposely feeding to ensure your team lose or trying to ruin their experience) or say anything toxic, you won't receive a penalty. Also, you joined a lane with your duo, as long your duo doesn't mind then there's no issue.

Besides, one game doesn't really determine the fate of your account unless you do something far more severe such as hacking or cheating.

sorry you ran into that crap, its not funny or cool, but why didn't you mute them at the first sign of abuse? mute and report saves your account and buries theirs.
