Tyler1 and Riot
God, I haven't made a legitimate post on here, but I feel as though the community is practically torn. And the tear is 100% bias.
Before I start, I am indifferent about Riot (their reasons for doing what they do), Tyler (what he did), and the community. This means that I view them all the same as what they are: A company, a streamer, and a group of people who (may or may not) have a strong voice.
With that being said, this community is being torn with great bias. With the banning (wholesome banning) of Tyler, some people say it's deserved and overdue. Others say it was unjustified and cruel.
What we really need to ask ourselves- as a community, is: "Did Riot prioritize their banning?"
--- I watched one of his videos (solely to watch the chat and behavior), and by God I saw a level of toxicity that almost blinded me. But at the same time, We, ourselves (as League of Legend players), have seen toxicity in our own games. With being toxic, we can mute someone, and be on with our day. But when you have someone throwing the match (tower-diving, AFK, troll builds, etc.), I feel as though that deserves more of a ban then someone trying to furiously type at someone knowing damn well that someone has the power to mute.
--- It feels like the community is a bunch of 5 year olds saying "He hurt my feelings by calling me a degenerate!" I'm not telling you to grow up, but Riot constantly points out the mute feature. If someone keeps purposely trolling each game, you will eventually lose your shit. Don't tell me you won't. I am not a toxic player (and I mean that), but If i was paired with trolls for the past 5 games, I would become one instantly.
--- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjzgbZL12VI Although this was posted a while ago, I feel as though some points are still relevant, like who gets banned, and for what. Personally, if he leaves or not is his choice.
- It doesn't make it okay, I just feel as though there needs to be priority. Something that could easily be ignored (with or without the mute feature) should not hold more weight over actual trolling and purposely feeding.
- Haven't seen it.
- Meteos was the only one-trick-pony that was mentioned, but similar cases arise where "people of higher status" were not dealt the blade of justice.
- Yet Tyler is the only one being blamed, and says "his actions were his own", but I'm not defending him.
- Reformed? No one will ever be reformed as long as the community keeps being split (and trolling). If there is at least one troll in the community (and he isn't dealt with by the mods) then there will spawn more and more until everyone is infected.
- He IS normal. Look at the whole community: People break rules and whatnot. Tyler does it hard, but people act like they're perfect when they're not.
- Watched it a couple of times when no one else was streaming. I don't condone his behavior, but watching some matches, it looks as though he was provoked. Sure he could have muted THEM, but when people feed, and do it constantly, people snap. We all have that point, and if anyone pushes your button hard enough, you will too.
My point through all this is that we need to ask if banning someone for foul language earns more merit than someone who ruins the experience on a level that can't be dealt with with a simple click of a button. My opinions?
Does it? No. Did he deserve a ban? Yes. Do other (Pro) players who show the same behavior? Yes. Should feeders and trollers hold higher weight? Yes. Does the community need to redirect their voice? Yes. We need to focus more on the general cause of the problems of League.
**Toxic behavior, ruined games, rage quitters, and AFK/leavers most likely stem from trolling. **
I only ask... Where do we go from here? And before that, was this the right step? Will we learn from this and do what needs to be done as a community (talking about the real problems)? Or will we stay stagnant? Find out on the next Dragonball Z Kai.
