Just a little tip for all you "Bystanders"

Today I was getting trolled by our Poppy support, who continuously followed me around and kept stealing ALL of my jungle monsters.

I said "Okay, I'm not playing with a troll. Bye." And I left to go make ramen.

I explained my situation to my own team, and they began to blame me for what happened and said to report me.

I'd just like to point out a couple things.

  1. If you think I'm going to play with a troll who is following me around stealing farm you're completely delusional.

  2. If you say to report the victim and start blaming him for what happened you are even more delusional.

Instead of attacking the victim like you do 90% of the time when they don't want to play anymore, you can give them encouraging words to actually keep playing and that you'll help report after the game.

EDIT: People confuse this thread for some sort of rage thread. I'm completely calm and was calm in game too. I'm not mad at all that I got trolled. I'm just pointing out that if you attack a victim who is getting trolled, that wouldn't encourage them to start playing again. That doesn't make any logical sense. They already don't want to play.

Illogical reasoning: B is affecting C, FUCK B REPORT HIM! Logical reasoning: A is affecting B, and B is affecting C, if we get rid of the root of the problem being A, then B won't be affected, therefore C won't be affected either.

Your victim mentality is a bit weird considering you were reported by other victims... They were actually even "twice as much" a victim in comparison to you, because on top of having to deal with a troll, they had to deal with an afk.

Sure, encouraging words would have been a better idea... but the bottom line is: If you think you can simply go afk in a team game without repercussions, you're completely delusional.

Eh most people would just report both of you and move on \o/

It's kind of sad really how you can't really do anything about a troll like Poppy, you should've just went on with the game and then reported the Poppy. Afk'ing IS reportable, and because you afk'ed, they probably reported you instead of the Poppy. <(I can vouch for this with personal experience)

You have smite. How can the troll steal ALL of your jungle monsters? If you can't out-smite one person on your team, you shouldn't be playing jungle.

tl;dr - Op rage quit game, posted on community boards bitching about the game & community, then bitched about the reaction he gets from said community.

A) You afk'd. That's punishable. B) If someone is trolling me and my team defends them, I will then go sit mid or top with them and troll them.

Gah trolls are bad yes. However you knowingly afked. As far as I am concerned your just as bad as the troll. Not only did the troll win by you afking you also made the situation worse.

Honestly I actually agree with you here. This community has a -stand by and watch- attitude whenever something that doesn't effect them happens. Even if it's going to effect them soon but they just don't know it yet. You team didn't care about the trolling Poppy and most likely didn't condemn that player for trolling you. However once they realized they weren't getting ganks and they game was going to become 5v4 they instantly realize "oh shit this player is ruining the game for me, I don't like that" when it was happening to you though "meh I don't care, his problem not mine".

It's a hypocritical community. You aren't just as bad as the troll, don't listen to whoever says anything otherwise. Are you punishable? Yes, were you the catalyst to the situation? No. Is the situation avoidable by swallowing your pride and letting the troll win? Absolutely. However is your team wrong to condemn you and not condemn the root cause? 100%.

Hopefully you don't AFk often so it can just be chalked up as a warning. As for you teammates, they will continue to get trolled because their logical reasoning is flawed

Chances are if your whole team acknowledged the situation asked Poppy to stop until they got that juicy response that you knew would be bannable from her. You would of just waited it out, and reported her in the end. Your team was close minded. It sucks because you got the punishment and the true troll gets away with 1 less report.

The only thing other people are saying is that you didn't handle yourself according to the summoner's code.

When people post in this corner of forums, the first thing everyone always asks is "did this person conduct him/herself properly?" because the troll isn't here. We can't address the troll. We can address you, and you could've done a lot better.

AFK is reportable. Always. And while your team wasn't right to flame you, I would've reported you that game, too. You AFK'd. That is reportable. Always.

The proper thing to do would be to keep playing, maintain your cool WHILE PLAYING, and recognize that you get a chance to report the poppy after the match.

I am not defending the troll. I am not defending your team. But you likely got reported, and that is not good for YOU. So, the helpful advice you are getting from everyone is "don't do that." You're aware enough to know that troll is a moron, so you're aware enough to deal with him better.

I make sure I have my recording software on to catch bad players trying to pull a dirty trick.

I have no problem taking the time to seal a players doom when they think they can get away with asshat tactics by utilizing simple video. (it doesn't need to be a 1080p video, a simple 640X480 resolution video captures enough detail to damn them)

You don't need to be a victim when you can help Riot and the community with such a simple measure when it occurs.

Just make sure you add enough details in the SUPPORT TICKET and add the video.

I've had much success with reporting botters, assholes and trolls who live to throw ranked & normal games.

Riot recognizes those people that are an asset to the community.

(To date, I've received 3 champions for good behavior and making a sincere effort to ensure that these types of players get their proper comeuppance.)

I always like to say...Be an asset, not an asshat.

I can see your side and it sucks that you got trolled. It still doesn't make it okay to afk though, it just opens you up to being lumped into the same group with that player. I would have just played it out and reported them like I do when I get a troll support or something. It's not fair to the other 3 that did nothing wrong. I don't know if I personally would have reported you though, probably just the Poppy if you weren't attacking anyone.

TheEvilQueen1351/2/2016, 5:40:54 PM2 votes

i'm sorry that poppy was being a troll but two wrongs isn't right either. you left your team with a troll AND and afk, that's just not fair to the 3 other people. they were utterly screwed and probably pissed at both you and poppy for messing up their game.

Trolling is wrong. afking is wrong. the rest of the team probably reported both of you and rightly so. Yes i understand that poppy ruined your fun and you didn't want to stay, and that's fair. but by leaving you really frustrated and ruined the fun for the other 3 non-trolling players.

Because they're afraid they'll get banned by Riot if they talk bad about trolls. That's how the system works and makes people think. Ignore the downvotes, there are many people who agree with you. Just like playing a 4v5 and then leaving. People are afraid to take action. riot won't do jack shit if people keep playing 4v5's from the start because they'll just assume everybody's fine with it. If more people leave when it's a 4v5 they'll be forced to take action.
