Food for thought.

Feeding, Flaming, Racism, Condescension, Taunting, just to name a few of what goes on in games I have seen since I joined in 2017. Sure, their is more than that but I digress. What I want to bring up is the fact that if I follow rules, play to the best of my ability all it takes is one team member to goad the participants into gang-reporting. Too often I see in games "report "x" for feeding", "Report "Y" for being toxic" or the infamous buzz-word "Trolling" because I dont and many others refuse to take orders from our team when we know better than to 2 man invade for a one minute buff steal or maybe we recognized that this or whatever fight in perticular was/is/then confirmed is a terrible idea. the immediate reaction I see from teamates then becomes a question of gang-reports.

It is not fair that I and other players who chose not to make or play risky are now being ousted by these vulgar often foul-mouthed playersbecause we possess better judgement. However, their is more. I have in fact witnessed players gang-report and seen first hand the enemy team and majority of players abuse the Tribunal to punish players based of falsehoods and the like. This needs to stop and counter-reporting does no good since it is often times I have seen 1 v X, sometimes 3 v X when it comes to these types of things. I feel that If we have the power as members of the community, player-base, company what have you this needs to be addressed.

I do offer some food for thought on this topic on how things can be inproved because my intention isn't to gripe on a board. It is to bring attention to this abuse of system that myself and other members of the community witness and perhaps some are even apart of. This would bring me to my next point. What players find reportable is based on what I belive to be about perception and this perception of events or actions can lead to confrontation in game because of miscommunication. Nobody parties up in solo queue. So we dont get to utilize the VC system. Players miscommunicate and everyone gets frustrated and angry.

If we have a system in place where all you have to do is get 4-5 or maybe more Idk people/players to report and then rewards are removed so the only way to really unloick anything is leveling or just buying it gets really old and thats not exactly even my problem. My problem is their are far too many players who ask for gang-reports so players they don't agree with get penalized. If we have a system that does have its checks with the logs and whatnot for more chat related reports but I am coming to ask for help Riot. Can you put an end to this tribunal? or at least have it set up where you require maybe 3-4 sentences with the reports so that its not just a simple click* click* click*? I emplore you guys to require players to write out their report so if and when these reports happen, you can look at the reports and similar to compairing stories in investigation you can oust the BS from what really took place. This will also make it feel like a daunting task for people who didn't really think that what happened is even worth the work to write and seperate them from the onjes who truly belive that what happened needs to be reported. A simple Click* Click* Click* is noat asking for alot and makes it feel undermined and menial to myself and other members of the community as if its no biug deal to click a few buttons because its not viewed as a serious matter at all. If players can influence the criminal record and jeprodize accounts of other members then this should be considered I feel as to no longer let or allow a emotionally unstable youth to get the account you own with over 50 skins banned because you wont buy him and his friends skins in game so they almost hold players like me at ransom and thats BS. Please consider the above. Thanks and remember; It ain't eazy bein Sleazy!

So... Correct me if I'm wrong; Tldr: mass reporting is abused and shouldn't be a thing.

If thsi is correct then great news! The number of reports in 1 match don't make a difference! 1 report will flag a game for review just as 9 would. It was programmed that way.

Gang reports and report rallying are ineffectual, and reports against such behaviors do in fact have an impact.

Here's the facts;

  • The IFS doesn't care how many reports are filed, as long as it's a quantity greater than zero. 0 reports = no review. 1-9 reports = review. It's a boolean flag, and more reports does not influence whether or not the review turns up positive or negative.
  • Report rallying (particularly excessively) does qualify as harassment, and can validate a report.
  • The IFS throws away false reports. If you don't break the rules, you won't get punished.
  • Likewise, it's worth noting that the system errs on the side of caution in regards to reports fro trolling/intentional feeding, as intent is a pretty key factor in such cases, and Riot doesn't want to ban players unjustly due to false-positives.
  • The Tribunal doesn't exist - it was iceboxed 4-5 years back and replaced with the Instant Feedback System, an automated system that handles reports and reviews player behaviors.

If someone starts trying to gang up and rally reports against you, just mute them, report them, and move on. They have no ability to get you punished unless you actually break the rules.

Multiple reports actually don't do anything more than a single report. When any number of players report someone (let's say for chat offenses) the system will look through their chat logs for the offending behavior; if it doesn't find anything, then nothing happens. People do misuse reports sometimes, but it doesn't result in punishments unless the system actually finds consistent or severe negative behavior.

This does not have to be an argument. If you are only out to correct and not understand and discuss, I wont be replying.

Well, one problem is the transparency. Some people legitimately don't know how the behavior systems in league work. I would suggest a F.A.Q. That way Riot doesn't have to define every little nuance, just the most frequent situations. That is to say with all this supposed machine learning it would be very easy to keep an updated list of the most common community issues.

I agree with you about writing notes into the report. If I were Riot, I would only investigate reports that had a note and never tell the public.
