Help me understand my chat restriction

Title. I was in a game playing as kassadin against a ziggs, never played the champion before, never played against ziggs before. I got stomped. One of the players on my team was giving me alot of grief for it. I did not swear at them, i got a little smart at one point but nothing that i would consider toxic.

Now, there is another game that was also mentioned in the chat restriction report, and in that game ill admit i was toxic, however i was still not swearing or verbally abusive. But since this particular example was included and to me doesnt seem chat restriction worthy, i just wanted to put it up here and see what you all think.

In-Game Noob ScrubLord: gj Noob ScrubLord: he will likely have me pushed in during all of lane phase Noob ScrubLord: not much i can do to him =x Noob ScrubLord: sry =x im also fairly new to kass so if you have a chance to gank other lanes your time may be better spent there Noob ScrubLord: such bs i was out of that Noob ScrubLord: new to kassadin into what is very clearly a harder match up for him Noob ScrubLord: ill let you think about the out come Noob ScrubLord: get back to me when you figure it out Noob ScrubLord: no i thought id just let it fall Noob ScrubLord: you know, for fun Noob ScrubLord: go for it idgaf lmao Noob ScrubLord: blidn pick norms yall acting like we korean challenger Noob ScrubLord: why? Noob ScrubLord: they're new Noob ScrubLord: they're bad Noob ScrubLord: not reportable Noob ScrubLord: get off your high horse in these pre 30 blind picks Noob ScrubLord: maybe this is news to you, but its perfectly possible to have a bad kda and not be inting Noob ScrubLord: just throwing that out there Noob ScrubLord: if you wanna hold people to a higher standard go play on your main Noob ScrubLord: and? Noob ScrubLord: if you got a problem with it leave Noob ScrubLord: or afk Noob ScrubLord: see if i care Noob ScrubLord: ppl learn pre 30 Noob ScrubLord: k? Noob ScrubLord: gotta be the absolute weakest burn of all time Noob ScrubLord: burned me almost as bad as water on a humid day Noob ScrubLord: got me good son Noob ScrubLord: like i said, if you wanna play with people who know what they are doing, go play on your main Noob ScrubLord: ppl at this level are learning Noob ScrubLord: or were you instantly good at any new champ you picked up? Noob ScrubLord: then why arnt you challenger / grand master? Noob ScrubLord: never said it was Noob ScrubLord: but you said you were good at every champion youve ever played Noob ScrubLord: so i ask you Noob ScrubLord: oh league prodigy Noob ScrubLord: why dont i see you in the lcs Noob ScrubLord: k Noob ScrubLord: i mean they clearly bother you Noob ScrubLord: why play if you arnt having fun Noob ScrubLord: ur main prob hard stuck silver tbh the way you talk to ppl Noob ScrubLord: yep Noob ScrubLord: here i am Noob ScrubLord: what about it

I believe if more than one player reports you, they just hit you. Some people deserve it. After reading and seeing different chat-restrictions and suspensions, I see that a lot of people don't. League is in a weird place right now.

Most people are recommending to "mute all". Personally, I'd rather play a different game than do that. The easiest options are: allow all speech or allow no speech. Riot has a tough job to figure out where to draw the line (and personally I do not think even they know where to draw the line).

So you have two options right now: mute all and talk to no one or play a different game.

First off, the IFS only shows 1-3 recent games as examples of the kind of behavior that got you in trouble and are not necessarily the only games you were validly reported in. Now with that out of the way you spend quite a bit of time arguing with someone who seems intent on complaining non-stop. I believe the following messages are what got you:

While it is true you weren't using any major swears or being verbally abusive you were derailing the game with your constant arguing. Imagine how the rest of your team felt having to deal with 2+ people bickering back and forth with each other all game long-not pleasant. In the future I would recommend just not engaging with people displaying problematic behavior and just mute, report and move on. The following tip from the Universal Rules (which was also part of The Summoner's Code) should help for the future:

Facilitate Civil Discussion When you choose to participate in a discussion with the rest of the playerbase, always try to be respectful and receptive to another player's point of view. Also, be mindful of how you present your point of view. If a player feels strongly on a subject, don't get caught up trying to have the last word. Just state your side and exit the conversation gracefully rather than give them the opportunity to pick a fight.

Hmmm .. I'll talk about systems instead of your specific chat.

Think of a health bar (or tension meter) in music games. When you hit the note at an off beat, your tension meter increases. When you completely miss a note, the meter increases by alot. When you hit the note at good timings, it reduces the meter.

Riot's behavior system works the same way, as in we all have a toxicity meter attached to our accounts. When players are mildly toxic, it goes up a tad. When people use hate speech, it pretty much fills up the meter. of course, clean games reduce the meter.

Looking at your chat, you probably engage in bickering often. Those add up slowly and eventually punish you.

Swearing in itself is allowed, however swearing at others isn't.

  • fuck, I messed that up - allowed
  • you are fucking bad - not allowed

Infact, you didn't even need to swear for that to be a harassment. The swearing just an adjective emphasises how bad they were.

Any kind of arguing is considered toxic.. doesn't matter who started it or if you said bad words..

if someone starts flaming or complaining.. best thing to do is not respond and report them..

ANYTHING else.. and your risking a ban

"burned me almost as bad as water on a humid day" ngl that was pretty funny lmao

It's not worth arguing with ignorant people in a game because not only do they have their head up their ass and gets angrier, it creates a awkward environment for the rest of the team trying to play the game. Ignorant people never learn just let them think they won so you can focus on the game instead of someone else's stupidity.

Chat restriction is a joke in this game. Regret spending money on RP supporting such a backwards company.
