Honour Level Drop

Hi everyone,

Can someone explain to me the thought process behind you automatically getting dropped to Honour Level 1 if you get a chat restriction? I received a chat restriction, which is the first disciplinary action I have received in my time playing League. The restriction has now been lifted but I still have locked honour level 1.

Why do you automatically get knocked to honour level 1 regardless of where your honour level was before? I have never had any issues with bans/suspensions/restrictions before and had honour level 4... I think its pretty unfair that someone who is arguably more toxic than me/plays with less honour, and is at the default level 2 should get knocked down one level, and someone like me who has worked their way to level 4 playing honourably, should get knocked down three whole levels. I feel like this does not encourage people who have been continuously playing with honour and have one instance of unsportsmanlike behaviour, to continue to play with honour after their restriction is done.

I have worked hard as a player to avoid tilt and not flame in tough situations, which is why I got to the honour level I was. I have one instance of behaviour that breaks the code and I am immediately put to level 1, and not only that, but before I can begin to advance from level 1, I have to 'unlock' my honor again too? This does not feel fair to me and makes me doubt and question the whole system Riot have in place. If this is meant to encourage people to play honourably, it certainly isn't working in my opinion - not when hundreds of games of playing honourably can be considered by Riot to mean nothing in the face of one instance of misconduct.

So there is a reason why it drops to Honor 1 (or 0 if already honor 1) instead of simply dropping 1 honor level. To prevent people from thinking they have a cushion.

Example: some random player "I am honor 4, I can br lightly toxic. And get 2 chat restrictions without losing my ranked rewards."

Maybe you aren't as honorable as you think you are.

It is entirely possible that you can be progressing through honors while getting validly reported. Those valid reports accumulate and eventually get you punished.

From a clarity standpoint, it's actually very counter intuitive, as it gives people the feeling that if they are progressing in honors, then their behavior must be acceptable.

It is also entirely possible that you suddenly had a spike in toxicity and get punished. Even people in h5 are not immune to this and can drop to h0 is they suddenly were to exert extreme toxicity.

Keep in mind that the system punishes people based on consistency x severity. Meaning that you can be punished in 1 game of extreme toxicity or many games of minor toxicity.

Working with the general punishment formula, the consistency is an important part of it. Let's say you had past 10% of 100 games that were considered toxic, someone that has a toxicity spike in the past 10 games is considered a worse offender than someone who is toxic once every 10 games.

Both have 10% toxicity, but the recent toxicity is 100% for the guy who had a spike. The system does consider past behavior, but only to a certain extent.

I do agree that with how the punishment system is now tied to the honors system, the stakes are higher to not get punished and they should have a method of warning before someone gets punished for the first time.
