Recently Recieved a 14 Day Ban

I received a 14 Day early in December. I would say I didn't deserve it, some would say I did. But either way I received it, I dealt with it, and moved on. I decided to come back with a positive attitude and mindset to play, have fun and practice for ranked.

I was reading a lot into ways to stay positive and not be toxic, because I was feeling as though maybe I was the problem in some of the games I was losing. I found a lot of people saying that they just mute all at the start of game so they don't see anything anyone says and they don't type they just play and focus on their gameplay. So that's what I did and have been doing and will continue to do so I do not lose my very valued account.

What I have to say after a few days of this strategy is... I am losing so many games. I am losing much more now than when I was toxic. My teams are all dead within first 3 mins almost everygame, turrets are rarely taken, wards are unheard of after the first ward is placed. I am starting to wonder if Ill ever feel what its like to win a game or even have a relatively close game ever again.

My thoughts are that me NOT being toxic is what is the variable factor in this experiment. Without me there to "flame" my team, they just go on and on getting wrecked over and over. {When I say flame, I mean "Thresh ward riv bush" or "try not to feed fizz, just play close to your turret early game and well be good late game" Saying this in game will and has gotten me reported after game or lead to them flaming me for "telling them how to play" eventually leading to reports and more flaming.} The thing is that even though I "flame" them, they take what I say into their brain. If I am reminding him a few times during a game to ward, maybe he is new and not aware of the importance of wards? He might get mad or upset that somebody is giving him solid advice, but he will take that advice and most likely use that in the next games; ultimately becoming a better and more skilled player.

I can honestly 100% say if it was not for toxic, flaming, raging players that I would not be near as good as I am today(how good I am is debatable). Sure they can rage a little too much and ruin some games, but ultimately I take what they say and learn from my mistakes that they pointed out.

Now that I am not communicating with my teams in fear of being permabanned over giving advice, the games are just not fun. I cannot communicate with my teammates that they should ward more or ward certain bushes instead of other bushes. I cannot give champion tips or call out drag/baron reminders. I ping as often as I can but players usually get more annoyed with pings.

In conclusion I think that if NA wants a more skilled player base, they will need to lighten up on the bans and understand that toxicity leads to players learning and trying to become better players overall. If NA wants a friendly casual player base, they should keep on the track they are going now. They should remove ranked from the picture all together though, because at this point in time its not a competitive game. You cant be a competitive player in this community because the direction is fun and friendly, not competitive. Its misleading and poor business to try and go this hard for a "fun/friendly/competitive/ranked" community. I think fun and friendly should be important, but at this point it is overboard on the fun and friendly.

I am not saying I will be toxic, I will follow Lyte's lead and mute everyone and continue to lose and watch the players around me learn nothing each and every game.

Sounds like you are getting rekt pretty hard. Mute all is a stupid strategy. Communication with your team is key to winning. Toxicity does not lead to better players, it leads to banned players as you have experienced.

I'd rather have a game I can enjoy than a game with ELITE PLAYERS. A+ on actually articulating an entire post, though.

I am 100% convinced that you are not saying "Thresh, ward riv bush". I am convinced you are saying "Thresh ward the fucking river bush you fucking scrub" or some other variation. There is a HUGE difference. The first is constructive criticism that Riot specifically encourages between teammates. The latter (or second for those who don't know) is being a toxic asshole. You are justified in teaching and helping others with words, but not with toxic behavior. You should NOT "flame" others in any form of chat and also not fear chat. Chat can help but also can hurt. Remember it is how you are perceived not how you perceive your own actions. The ban was justified and if you tone the "flame" down but be more helpful in nice ways it will go a long way.

Here is what you do: mute all at the beginning and then you can still write everything out that you need to. They will still see it. You won't see any of their toxic responses, though, and that way you won't respond with a toxic attitude toward them and be banned when they report you (or so people on this board would have you believe)..

I just choose to not mute anyone and never use the chat. It's more fun when you or your team sucks during a game to watch them break down and start flaming everyone. Then you get to report them while staying in the clear yourself.

It's okay to ask to ask teammates to do xyz such as "ward here pls" or something, but if they start acting like an ass is when it's time to mute them. Seriously. I used to not mute people because I would get so irritated that they were being an ass...it was like I had some grip on thinking I had to tell them right then and there how stupid they were being.

Now I just mute people and it's honestly really helpful. I don't usually /mute all from the beginning though, I wait and see how my team is and mute them as necessary. If i feel myself getting honestly mad during a game, I will /mute all, even if people aren't being toxic or it was just one or two.

Just last game for instance I had an orianna who went mid, and was just...hemorrhaging deaths left and right. Her first death I said "you might want to rush a zhonyas, ori" because she got the cdr gem part of morellos first back. By her 4th death I said "Seriously, get a zhonyas. It's really useful against zed" where she proceeded to tell me to shut up. I said "ori is my best mid laner, I'm just giving legit advice" and she said she couldn't care less about me. So i just muted her and watched her go 1-10-1. So zed starts to roam bot with the lee sin and take out my adc and me because we were winning lane hardcore. I tell my adc "well, since mid is gone I'm guessing zed will probably be down here a lot from now on" (because mid lost her tower by this point) and my top laner chimes in "would you stop crying" and im like "??????? how is that crying in any sense???" and I just mute him too, because he's 0-5-0 and just salty.

It's frustrating sometimes, it really is, but muting really is helpful to me. It's the best method I've had so far, I've even gone as far as moving the chat window away, but I really didn't like that because it was annoying to move it in the first place, and some things show up in chat you might have missed on the map- such as specific pings etc. So i like to look at it for instances like that as well.

If you're in a good mood- try being overly nice. Either they'll realize how stupid they look, they'll shut up, or change their attitude.

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you didn't run flash in your past few games? It seems you ran TP Heal, just wondering why TP or Heal over flash?

My advice would be not to mute all at the start of game.

I do mute the enemy team at the start of the game b/c nothing they say can be of any positive value, they can only incite tilt.

As for teammates leave them unmuted to start but mute them at the first sign of negativity/toxicity or the first itch you get to respond to them. If you're so inclined you can unmute them 5 minutes later to see if they've calmed down and can contribute something useful.
