Why do antagonists always go unpunished?

I see this all the time in League of Legends: One person will be having a really bad game where they just lost their huge advantage on someone by getting camped or maybe they died in jungle and got their buffs stolen. They'll start to show their discomfort in chat saying stuff like hey what are you doing come and help me a little. You would expect their teammates to show some empathy but nope. What's the #1 response in this type of situation? "Why are you so mad?" Usually it's a lot more aggravating than that, but it's just an example. They just asked a question so the other person who is already having a bad game is going to respond, and the response never looks pretty. Many games start like this and many games are lost like this. Everyone likes to blame the person who was having the bad game for the whole toxic environment thing but why are the antagonists always left out? If anything the people who can't feel empathy and the people who are just silent and don't help are the ones that start problems. I think we need more punishments for those that antagonize and I just wanted more opinions.

P.S. No I did not get a chat ban or something as a cause for this post. I just recently had a Thresh in my game who just kept antagonizing me after I lost my advantage against a Riven. I asked the jungler for help and Thresh decided to randomly go into all chat and call me a mad boy and all this dumb stuff. Also just a fyi, I shouldn't have to mute someone to be able to enjoy the game, but yes I did mute thresh after his 5th comment about me.

Found a really good post on the old league forums talking about this: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=198717

Some antagonists get punished, but I often see people punish people more based on performance than toxicity. Also, a lot of antagonists just stir the pot a bit and then step back and let their target explode and earn a punishment. Honestly the whole system is pretty stupid and pointless. Its been proven enough times that people don't learn from being punished as they do from being rewarded, so I am not sure why we have a system that does both. For real results they would just make it so the reward is a lot better and harder to achieve and take away punishments for the small stuff. This would make people strive to attain the big reward rather than just squeaking by to not get a punishment. It isn't like we can't just mute people. And no, I am not saying we should allow the really toxic game ruiners to go unpunished. People that AFK, give away positions in all chat, troll to the point of throwing the game, they deserve to be punished. People that say "You are dumb, shut the fuck up!" could just be muted, it takes being a real cry baby to have to report someone for hurting your feelings when there is a button that instantly stops the communicate.

Probably because the game was bought by Chinese people who don't care about overall customer satisfaction, and are only looking at their profit margin

Because antagonists are spending the same money you are.

What makes you think they go unpunished? People having "just a bad game" is the exact reason why I was permabanned. I actually see the opposite problem, why are feeders never punished? Of course the answer is "just a bad game" but I have never heard any logical argument as to how calling someone "bad" is ruining ones experience more than a feeding teammate, who is wasting your time and causing you to lose LP/MMR.

as someone who's been banned many times in the past for flaming other players, trust me when i say.. They don't go unpunished.

You might not be receiving notifications that they're getting banned, but eventually their reports will add up, and they'll get the suspend/ban hammer.

Players need to stop chatting so excessively and just focus on the game.

I dont think they do. Ive only ever been antagonized, as I do not talk shit about anyones gameplay, since thats pretty dorky (who cares how good you are at fuckin league of legends lmao, what a joke), but I've had several feedback reports about a player being punished that I reported. They definitely were the antagonizers and they got punished. I think what youre basing your title off of, is claims made by bitter, punished, often times children. Dont ever take their word for it, especially when theyve been punished. They got a chip on their shoulder and are reaching for a reason to blame something else for their punishment. Usually its how "fucked up" Riot is, because god forbid they actually take responsibility for their actions. Kids, you know?

Question though; "...the people who are silent and dont help are the ones that start problems" ... what do you mean by that? That sounds like a ridiculous statement but maybe I'm looking at it wrong.
