Why is the community so toxic?

I've been playing league for a while now and I've seen a lot of people that will not stop insulting you and I've tried reporting people the people that deserve it but it seems that Riot never punishes these players and they just keep getting more and more toxic. I think a ton of people would find the game more enjoyable if everyone had a good attitude. My hopes are that Riot will finally fix their banning system and finally start to punish people for preseason and the 2017 season.

Its a competitive online game that punishes players for their teammates mistakes.

Because it's a game on the internet. Especially because it's a free-to-play game on the internet.

And it's one that uses time for balancing things, so you have a lot of time to type while walking back to lane.

Because it has one of the largest player bases globally, so statistically speaking the amount of toxicity is going to be higher. Or I could qoute the Late Tyler1(Rip In pepperoni his accounts) "Kids are bad"
